Money wise yeah, but for optics I wouldn’t think you’d just want to throw away any amount of streams in the thousands, since maximizing is always the name of the game
What optics man. What you on about
leak culture is not even a thing like that these days. most people are gonna wait until tonight
There’s a few hundred downloads on them I think, if you multiply that by the number of tracks on the albums, they could be losing like 5,000 streams or more (and that’s after a couple hours)
Not saying most people are in tune or would notice but still, that’s not nothing
thats like 4 album units

I can’t believe you made a whole thread on this.
No one outside of chronically online nerds (including myself) know that these albums are out early on random sites. People don’t spend their weekdays downloading zip files a few hours early. It’s just not that deep
insignificant in the grander scheme of things tbh. think about it. if they were to drop at US midnight EST, then Danny would miss out on the first 18 or however many hours of streams and sales globally. not just NZ and AUS, but any other countries whose midnight would come before the US.
really if people didn't rip their downloads and provide it to the small percentage of people who look online for the early drop, i don't think there would be any point to holding releases like that. but i don't see it as anticlimactic at all. the music is still highly anticipated for me whether it comes out in my country first or not lol.

yeah an album leaking the day prior or whatever should not halt its' momentum
Either way, these twp releases will fall under the radar and nobody really cares like that. Last time Andre 3000 has been relevant was more than s decade ago. Danny Brown doesn't really even exist.

This is a very interesting day in hip hop
Danny Brown has been promoting the XXXX/Quarenta project for years now, the follow up to his classic breakthrough XXX. Needless to say the anticipation has been huge and the wait is finally over
Andre 3000, who we never thought we’d get an album from, surprise announced a flute album this week, and even though it’s not raps, I was still very excited to hear music from him
For a fan like myself, these two releases made this Friday one of the most exciting and eventful Fridays in a while. Was even starting to plan my listens, as I do
To my surprise, after these huge waits, both of these albums released early in NZ and therefore leaked today
Now I know, this is pretty normal. But now instead of lining up to the streaming service ready to listen, I can just download listen today. A little bit anticlimactic for these releases, no?
Then add the fact that Drake is dropping now and will be taking most of the music discourse attention tomorrow (even though he’s not in direct competition with these artists), an unfortunate break
Idk I just find this interesting. Shouldn’t these have been worldwide releases so we all rush to tune in when they drop? By tonight, I’ll have already heard these and be waiting on Drake. Not great strategy. The boy wrong for kind of stepping on them too
What do y’all think?
Wondering how old you are..
Andre 3000 obviously isn't aiming for a big album
As for Danny Brown, I remember he was promoting uknowwhatimsayin? more than this album, and it still wasn't successful enough. However he had a relative success working with JPEG earlier this year, he has a niche dedicated fanbase which is mostly online and aware of this release. So hope he'll make money off it.

most folks cant even be bothered to go to soundcloud to listen to s*** thats not on spotify or download music on itunes theyre for sure not gonna seek out zippyshare links
a 90 minute flute album isn't gonna flop cuz it leaks early it's a 90 minute flute album
Yeah just ban OP at this point cheers
Why are you all asking for me to be banned when I clearly put effort into this thread? You guys are f***ed

I can't speak for the other users and their reasons, but for me this just reads like a troll post.
Okay, you downloaded the Andre & Danny releases early. You're the 0,01%. What bag is fumbled? What climax is ruined for the rest of the population listening the next day, people who aren't even aware of leak culture?
Your thread substance is asking why do artists not cater to the chronically online music listener by doing a global release (having it release at f***ed up times for some timezones) instead of catering to the general population by doing a targeted midnight launch, putting the music at the forefront for consumption in the weekend instead of an afterthought on Thursday and forgotten to check it out by Sunday.

That’s fine but if your point about the release time is true, then no one would ever do the global release then, right? There’s been more than a few big releases that have opted for global releases. So it can’t be THAT insignificant as you are saying, can it? It’s not like I’m making the idea up myself, some artists and labels choose to do it.
