I'm just very sad about the state of mainstream hip hop and where I think it's heading.
I forgot what what thread it was, pretty sure Ka was a part of the discussion, but you said something about the maturation of the genre that I really rocked with so to see this
as long as i have my hearing i will never lose my love for music
only a sith talks in absolutes.
Slightly increased for me.
been able to discover new music and listen to my wishlist during COVID, sorta thankful for that
I would say yes, in some way.
I definietly do not care about new music like I used to and grew more lukewarm towards the music that was already in my orbit. Still listen s*** but move on with my life towards other things I guess
Imma be honest, I’ve been playing music less frequently because it triggers a lot of s*** I went through. I’ve been replacing it with podcast and audiobooks, slowly but surely
But once we get some quality new music, s*** gonna be different. I hope lol
you might just be burnt out on listening to new s*** and COVID is coincidental.
just like you can get burnt out from movies and video games and books, the same can easily happen with music. just take a break and come back with fresh ears when an artist you like drops smth.
no but this year has been pretty dry so far since non of the major artists dropped yet
in the meantime ive been branching out to other genres that i normally wouldnt have done before
This made me sad. Please my friend go listen to the music that helped you find love for music in the first place. Those songs that bring back feelings of happiness and nostalgia. A special person maybe. And then check out Lil Durk Hellcats & Trackhawks that nigga niceeee.
This has actually been what I've done for months now. I've tried to spark my interest but I think the only solution is to see a real concert

At this point I don't see the likes of Ka having the influence that they deserve to have. But I'd love to be proven wrong.

What's got you down on the current state of hip hop in particular and where you do you think it's heading?
I'm upset that I haven't been able to throw myself more into music (old and new, lots of good with both) and other creative interests with all this time I have rn due to my disability

On a mainstream scale it's probably gonna be the death of hip hop as we always knew it. The younger generation seems to have a different idea of what dope hip hop is, and we don't have a leader to fight for the right things anymore. The underground has been doing amazing things but maybe it's time for them to simplify their craft so they can inspire a broader audience.

lost a lot of interest in hip-hop in the last 2 years tbh
not sure it its kanye falling off or just the general lack of originality thats so widespread in the genre these days
no way. movies for me.
im in front of my screen way longer so i almost never watch movies on my desktop anymore (i used to watch maybe 1-2 a week on my comp). Also had a crazy marathon of movies early on int he livingroom and now it has to REALLY intrigue me for me to watch it (and stay with it).
