Alright I just want to ask because the google results got me freaked out and want to know from other younger people (ages late 20’s and below) how long it took to recover your senses. Everything I read says it’ll take like 4 weeks to recover, but I’m wondering if that includes older people who aren’t as healthy as me. I know it’s because the virus attacks the nerves for these senses and they have to grow back and heal.

I somehow got COVID again despite being vaccinated, and I now haven’t had a sense of taste or smell for about 4 days now. It’s a f***ing nightmare losing 2 major senses man. I literally can’t smell or taste a single thing and it’s gotten me incredibly depressed. I f***ing love food and now I can’t enjoy it whatsoever. But worse is it has my anxiety going crazy since a percentage of people never get taste or smell back.

Just wondering what your experience with this was like and how long it lasted if it happened to you

I had it in July of 2020, I was sick for 2 days and lost my smell but I could taste things..

Being vaccinated isn’t going to prevent you from getting covid, that was just propaganda at the beginning.

If you’re young and don’t have any underlying medical issues you’ll be fine. No need to freak out.

Drink plenty of fluids, you have to stay hydrated. And stay away from elderly people. If you absolutely have to go out, wear a mask. It’s not going to kill you. But I suggest just resting as much as you can, stay hydrated and it’ll be gone before you know it my brother.

this is my third time having it lmao. I work with lots of cash for my job and money is one of the most unhygienic things out there, only reason I can think of for getting it this much. and I have a very strong immune system, literally never had a fever or the flu ever (I’m 28). and I’m a very hygienic person so it’s not like I’m ignorantly exposing myself to it. so it’s pretty baffling.

I’ve already basically recovered, it only lasted a few days. Besides my senses being gone, the only symptom I still have is a stuffy nose

    Nope, still tasting p****

i have my smell and taste back but certain smells aren't the same like dogshit smells absolutely vile still and sometimes certain foul smells all run together. it's been a year since I had covid.

don't expect your smell to be 100% so soon it takes a lot of time depending on the person, basically it damaged some nerves in your brain and it takes time to heal them

  • Sep 15, 2022

In 2020 yes, it lasted 4 days

That propaganda was started by ignorant people.

Getting a flu vaccine doesn’t stop you from getting the flu, it just gives your body the instructions on how to fight it to limit the time you are sick and limit symptoms. Covid is no different in that sense even though there are different type of vaccines that each work their own way with like the spike protein and such.

Problem is people are just ignorant and refuse to use the resources at their palms like google. They rather just believe hearsay than do the easy research.

Not long term but for like a week when I first got it

Fwiw the only person I know who lost smell and taste and didn’t get it back had the OG pre vax strain in Nov 2020 (edit: just remembered my therapist had it in Jan of this year and hasn’t gotten her smell and taste back, but idk her vax status and she’s also much older). Everyone else I’ve known that lost it since has had theirs back within a week, even one guy who wasn’t vaxxed. Fingers crossed for you OP, that’s one of the symptoms that scares me most

It was made worse and able to spread by our government being f***ing awful at communication across two admins tbf

You’re right though. People absolutely love confirmation bias and believing the thing that makes them most comfortable when it comes to things like this

  • Never caught covid so that's kinda terrifying for me
