That propaganda was started by ignorant people.

Getting a flu vaccine doesn’t stop you from getting the flu, it just gives your body the instructions on how to fight it to limit the time you are sick and limit symptoms. Covid is no different in that sense even though there are different type of vaccines that each work their own way with like the spike protein and such.

Problem is people are just ignorant and refuse to use the resources at their palms like google. They rather just believe hearsay than do the easy research.

I know this? Why are you telling me lol

Hope you get better soon OP. Personally I got it back after a week, I think that's the average for young peoole. I've seen older people lose it for months

Alright I just want to ask because the google results got me freaked out and want to know from other younger people (ages late 20’s and below) how long it took to recover your senses. Everything I read says it’ll take like 4 weeks to recover, but I’m wondering if that includes older people who aren’t as healthy as me. I know it’s because the virus attacks the nerves for these senses and they have to grow back and heal.

I somehow got COVID again despite being vaccinated, and I now haven’t had a sense of taste or smell for about 4 days now. It’s a f***ing nightmare losing 2 major senses man. I literally can’t smell or taste a single thing and it’s gotten me incredibly depressed. I f***ing love food and now I can’t enjoy it whatsoever. But worse is it has my anxiety going crazy since a percentage of people never get taste or smell back.

Just wondering what your experience with this was like and how long it lasted if it happened to you

Got covid for the first time after the Kendrick concert 2 weeks ago luckily no loss of smell/taste for me, I did have brain fog for like a week though. I think smell/taste loss was more v1 covid. I listen to this podcast where a weekly guest(50+) lost his smell/taste over a year ago and it never came back doctors told him it likely won't come back smh

I was agreeing with you and elaborating on it. Duh

    Scary

  • Sep 15, 2022

I got covid last December and maybe in April cuz I was sicko mode for a bit... have noticed reduced smelling... like it takes more effort to smell things regularly... and a general stuffiness since the spring at least. not sure if its cuz of covid or other sinus/allergy issues but its scary to think it'll be stuck like this

I had covid back in March or April 2020 which was right when it was starting to pop off. My symptoms were pretty mild but I did temporarily lose my sense of taste and smell for at least 7 days. Was mad depressing to eat and not have it taste like anything for several days. Couldn’t enjoy food or snacks. Quality of life was reduced by many points when I couldn’t enjoy the taste of whatever I was eating. Don’t take your taste buds for granted fellas.

I noticed my sense of smell is not as strong I’m probably at 70% with it but COVID did mess it up loss my taste also but that came back quick

    I lost my sense period

  • Sep 16, 2022

  • Sep 16, 2022

It’s returning already for me and I couldn’t be happier. This s*** was so f***ing depressing man, all I could think about was how it’s gonna be for forever until I could taste my favorite foods. I feel really lucky that it’s returning so fast. This experience definitely taught me not to take smell and taste for granted

It’s not that simple once it actually happens to you. I thought the same the first day I lost it, but then all I could think about was all the unhealthy s*** I wouldn’t be able to enjoy, so I was getting chips and pizza and s*** just to see if I could still taste something good

Fwiw the only person I know who lost smell and taste and didn’t get it back had the OG pre vax strain in Nov 2020 (edit: just remembered my therapist had it in Jan of this year and hasn’t gotten her smell and taste back, but idk her vax status and she’s also much older). Everyone else I’ve known that lost it since has had theirs back within a week, even one guy who wasn’t vaxxed. Fingers crossed for you OP, that’s one of the symptoms that scares me most

It’s back already. Not 100%, but s*** I’ll gladly take 50%. It’s SUCKS not being able to smell or taste at all, like someone else said it really affects quality of life and gets super depressing. You don’t realize how important that stuff is to your well being

I lost it for 2 weeks and I was doing the same lol. Chipotle was the only thing I could still slightly smell. That and deodorant. I'd sniff it every day just to see if it was improving at all

I now have it back at about 50% capacity, which I’ll gladly take over not having it at all. Have never gone from being so depressed to so happy in a short amount of time

It’s come back at about 50% so far. Which is a godsend compared to no taste or smell whatsoever

I could still taste the bitterness of my kratom and I was actually savoring that taste just because it was something I could sense lol. I was literally eating packets of Taco Bell Diablo sauce just to experience something resembling taste

Damn. It's wild cause your brain is still getting them feel good chemicals from the food despite not even tasting it. S*** was like living in a grey dystopian world. I think after like a week I just accepted it and focused on the different textures I was eating
