The way after hours was received sums up what people look for in music these days
this is such an awful take though
are we really going to say that albums like Thriller or Purple Rain, in which a big component of their success came from the visual component that accompanied the music, are lesser albums because they utilized these mediums to advertise their music?

RT
Also I feel like Gambino just dropped this to do it. It wasnt some complicated plan behind it.
Because he didn't drop a single, name his tracks or album, didn't have a proper rollout, didn't have album artwork, and released it at 3AM on a Sunday instead of Friday!
He was trying to be mysterious and was just pretentious by just releasing the music with no strings attached or bundles and he flopped!
he sucked at Coachella last year too. Talk too dam much, we just want bangers bro. Forget being mysterious, your Donald.
I will never understand the hate this album gets on here, yall talk about everything but the music just because of the song titles.
Ay so I'm dropping an album right.... But get this.... It has NO title, NO cover art, and NO song titles This the one right here
Bro really thinks he’s prince or something
Sad because he’s most like icejjfish
Bruh is so s***ty
My friend tried to get me to watch Community and I could only make it through 2 episodes couldn’t take seeing that cornball in the show

No, I'm just saying that people are more swayed by visuals than they were before. Which makes sense because of the rise of digital media
Plus what I was saying applies in the case of albums that are decent/mid. Obviously great albums can have great visuals to accompany it and still hold their own musical value
it’s gotta be deeper than that. only his biggest stans even saw it
RCA took all the screenshots and reddit posts down but summaries are still up everywhere and they spread pretty wide. idk.

think that rollout leak was w/ a different record label. was a proposed rollout if he did sign with them i think.
i dont think he cared about numbers for this album
dropped on a monday, no album title, no album cover, no real tracklist (hid ariana and 21 savage features) and had zero promotion, besides his core fanbase playing the rip of the livestream he did a week earlier
i thought this was apparent + pretty obvious?? lol
You guys can’t just listen to the music and focus on all this extra s*** that doesn’t even matter
y'all care more about the numbers the album did than Donald
he got that Atlanta bag ya goofies
Star Wars too

i don’t think the average music listener has any idea that even happened.
Seen more people complain about the rollout than the music itself lmao
folks wanted an album cover and word titles so f***ing badly

You know you did something when niggas complain about everything else more than the actual music
He really thought he had one lol
Let Frank do Frank and you stay in your own lane bruh
Ima be real Frank is corny when he does it too
