For the past 5 years or so I’ve been barely seeing any comedy gain big traction (to the level of Super hero movies) and most seem to be bogged down with mixed reviews. Not to mention, I feel movies in this category were more flavorful and funny back in the 90’s and 2000’s
So really what gives?
it’s 2020, we’re being brought jokes everyday in our daily lives.
We ain’t laughing anymore.
last classic comedy was probably 21 jump street but once will ferrel fell off it was pretty much over
i've been noticing this too, there hasn't been a classic comedy movie in so long
studios stopped making them because theyre hard to market internationally because sense of humour changes so much between countries
Hot take, but the rise of mcu movies was the downfall of traditional comedies

Movies started setting up "jokes" the way they do
that Good Boys movie was funny

Probably, I know they try to shoehorn comedy in most of their movies (If not all) nowadays, but most of them feel like there isn't much variety

I remember when Neighbors came out in May and 22 Jump Street came out in June of 2014 and there have been less within 10 funny movies since then

Genius
people are way to pc these days and can’t take a joke
writers prolly too worried about going too far or getting cancelled
Kevin Hart ruined comedy
Ngl he's still funny but his excessive presence can get redundant
this a comedy? Might have to dl this later tonite unless it’s on Hulu/Netflix/hbo for free
