What i mean is, generally speaking you'd KNOW what an 80s song would sound like right off the bat. Kinda why its so easy to copy (ie: Weeknd)
Dont think its the same with other decades in terms of popular music.
if you can summarize an entire decade into a single style, that sounds like a lack of personality to me
The 80s have a cult following cuz it was boomer’s glory days and gen x’s formative years, and they make up the majority of adults today. The 2000s will be nostalgia-sized the same way in 20 years. With that said the 80s were cool mostly cuz of the music
No the 2010's had more personality because it had so much diversity. If you can go by one sound that isn't diversity and pretty bland
I mean every decade has its own amount of personality tbh
and are easy to tell apart soooo maybe?
Just depends on what your idea of personality is
Probably but the 90s had better music imo
Rap was a lot stronger, rock was more my taste, and pop was keeping up well. Lotta good dance and electronic music too and rnb was still amazing

Punch a lame (irl If you ever meet him lol)
But he once said whatever genre you like the 90s was great for it and besides like the genres that came after its true
Yea
80s eastcoast
80s westcoast
80s new jack
80s freestyle
80s hair bands
80s pop
80s merengue
80s bachata
80s reggae
80s salsa
"80s" is not a genre, it's a decade. The thing you're probably trying to say is that folks are drawn to New Wave and Synthpop specifically. But there's also post-disco, breaking beats, synth R&B, rock and rap's infancy.

no
if anything it had less
everyone in pop used the same keyboard sounds and the same synthesizers. so in a way, that classic 80's sound was more of the technology limiting the amount of personality in music. everyone wanted to keep up with the changing times.
People that idolize earlier decades are so annoying.
The present is the best moment you will ever live in.
Right here, right now.
y’all always do this, but don’t factor in the fact that if you include any kind of underground or outsider s*** then the idea of decades having certain “sounds” as a whole kind of falls apart

Maybe because there not talking about underground…
80s had some amazing music, a lot of synths technology being used
But there’s a lot of different sounds and genres
