I swear, half of this site has zero reading comprehension skills.

Y'all see the words "dawn fm", "yeat", or some phrase you think is idiotic and just decide to go to down like

read the full sentence with the phrase "played out" again and then tell me how it insinuates that Dj's no longer have a place in the industry

that’s a dope gif, ima have to steal it lowkey

but anyway help me understand what you trynna say then fam

fam. All u have to do is read the post. I don't know how to make it any clearer than i already have. Y'all seem so hung up on the title when i clearly explain what i mean in the body text

    • you saying DJs weren’t cool anymore to feature on projects

    • you think newer gen brought them back

    • you questioning if it’s a trend or gimmick

    what am I missing?

nice, now tell me where in those bullet points do i say that DJ's overall are not cool anymore or have no place in the industry, or are this mysterious cryptdid that people under the age of 35 don't know about?

Why is the title more verbose now

because half of the people ITT seem to have only read the title and decided to attack some strawman of what they think i said so i decided to remove any aspect of ambiguity

the idea DJs weren’t seen as cool on projects is wrong tho

I mean the idea that they are nostalgia bait doesn’t makes sense when they broke out many of the acts that become stars in the newer gen
Chief Keef & Lil Uzi just to name some

IDK how to break this to you chief, but we're getting close to 10 years now since lil uzi was broken as an artist

And also a lot of people hated DJ's on tracks to the point that No DJ tapes were desired

I get what OP is saying though. To an extent.

Niggas like Kendrick can do it cuz he understands the cultural significance of having Kid Capri or whoever on a song. Same for Tyler and Drama or Logic and Flex. They also not hurting For bread to not be stressing the royalties.

But the average new rappers ain’t tryna split royalties to have a nigga screaming on their s*** and since all tapes go straight to streaming now that’s the real reason it died off Imo. The DJ would have to either forego royalties, which they probably wouldn’t go for when they think of how Drama made a lot of those tapes better with the s*** talking and drops, or the rappers would have to say here’s 50% of my money to scream like a madman over my music so fans can complain for a version without you anyway lol
