I’m not saying MCHG is better than every album
I’m saying that jays “worst” effort is still better than 90% of others rappers best effort
kingdom come has some of jay's most thoughtful verses there's some gems on there
explain @the_ghost_of_b_a
kanye has consumed himself and there is nothing beyond that besides hate and bitterness

Yes! I’ve been telling people this
Prelude
Lost ones
Trouble
30 something
Do You Wanna Ride
false info
which i think translates to poor self indulgent music but my og question do people really think TLOP is top 3 ye

are you saying that in reference to my comment about people comparing an artist's newest work with their best work or people including TLOP amongst the best albums kanye has put out

i think TLOP is like his worst album and at best bottom 3 but the general public thinks very highly of the record
what are the other ones
I'd really say MBDTF knockoff in regards to being such a bombastic project complete with real art direction. WTT bridged the gap more on an image level with artists dressing more like larger-than-life figures. As well as the obvious collab album concept which I'm sure you don't need me to point out. It's just that I count MBDTF and WTT as very familiar projects since parts of their creation ran together.
So with that in mind MCHG is in line with Watching movies with the sound off, Born sinner, Because the internet, and plenty others.

there are some songs on the album that are rightfully hated on but the songs you mentioned are possibly more reflective than anything jay before that album and after it until 4:44. it was really a legend fighting with being an "older guy" and that his wealth and being president of def jam makes him not just another rapper it's good good writing

i can understand why someone would say that
Kingdom Come and MCHG are similar in that both feature Hov talking about being rich. Only difference is he sounds way more confident on Magna Carta. Kingdom Come was just regular Jay Z saying rich things. In MCHG he fully embraced that part of his self.

there has never been a greater rap brag than on come and get me

come and get me, is that your b****, big pimpin, watch me, s. carter, do it again. he was talking his s*** on the album probably more than anyone else has before or since

Nah fam
KC had thoughtful songs
Besides Anything and Hollywood, what are the “rich” songs?
just re: donda hate, i hated that. i thought it was ultimate disgusting indulgence
i can see why someone would feel that way about donda what i got from it was someone that knows he's great at something and knows he changed it and has a massive amount of influence and respect from his peers and those that came after him. amongst his ego mania he lost his family and in reality he has nothing aside from God, his money, and accolades, probably doesn't even have real friends at this point so he's trying to get it all back. i thought some of the music was very soulful touching it's the most he cared about an album in a long time i feel
Man said MCHG better than everybody discography except Ye... they should send y'all niggas to concentration camps
sheesh

Of course but he's still on his pre-Black Album tip of being the most mature baller. Nearly every song is a flex. Show Me What You Got is the most baller video second to maybe Big Pimpin'.
It comes off less showy and more constructive on his later albums imo.
KC was way better
Nah
I think KC has a few songs better than others on MCHG like Lost Ones but that’s about it
just re: donda hate, i hated that. i thought it was ultimate disgusting indulgence
to be fair the self indulgence can be really good
jail lost its anthem rock charm p fast, and from a purely songwriting perspective its p weak (i hated the prince comparison in the drink champs interview)
pure souls is only good for roddy
impossible to enjoy the jesus song everyone likes with that really s***ty "jesussssss lorddd" in the back god i hate that
but i am obsessed with come to life.
kill me because it borders on corny anthem rock with the self indulgent ye s*** been on for past years (just got north nikes)
but its still killer and honestly feels honest to me
also 24 is just genuinely good. frustratingly good. proof that he can do the gospel thing authentically and beyond just a gimmick.
guess he just chooses not to for whatever reason, despite it being easier to get critical acclaim than get on the radio for him at this point
most white critics are begging to "forgive" him, they would do so in a heartbeat if he had a record full of 24's tbh
Does it matter? God damn, if you like mid, then just accept that you like some mid. MCHG is musically a fat white woman who treats you good. Marry your big white b**** and accept that you might get roasted for it but you're happy with her nigga.
Lmfao this is amazing
