    LIl Wayne

was there from 2008 (like most of em) to 2009 (when his peak ended)

Being a Wayne stan during this time where hit after hit was leaking everyday it seemed, the impact it made on me is nothing short of monumental

    Kanye West

2004 (was hard to escape him on radio) to 2013 (I guess Yeezus marks the end of his peak but Vultures is a classic)

Ye is really the main artist that i had in my generation, there was just so many great album. I'd get all his albums as soon as they dropped and they'd be the majority of what i'd listen to.

How do you guys define "prime"

    In sales ?
    Popularity ?
    Sound ?
    Versatility?
    Quality ?

Maybe everything at the same time...
    Quite ambiguous

Tyler's prime would be Igor era

    Top popularity
    Mastered his sound(s)
    Getting money
    Involved in clothes/visuals/music

    Right now is a continuity

  • for the most part yea

  • Jul 22, 2024

    half of them, yeah

  • Jul 22, 2024

    Yes for most artists

Still wonder how I missed my fav Young Nudy albums between 2016-2018 and only discovered them in 2019.

Peak Pi‘erre x Nudy was something else

  • Jul 22, 2024

Rocky, Travis, Migos, Waka Flocka, Thug, X, Ski, etc

When was Ye’s prime? I became a fan when I saw can’t tell me nothing video on BET back in middle school. So missed CR and LR releases but idk what his prime is considered.

Honestly, Ye's definitive prime is 04-16(also before 04 if you including his productions).

After 2016, he's been hit or miss and wishy washy in terms of his music and content with some solid music(KSG, Daytona, JIB, Donda) and some mid music(Ye, JIK, Vultures, Donda 2 demo tape).

I'd actually include C1 as the beginning of Wayne's prime.

by witnessing I'm not talking about being alive, but actively listening to their music during that time

    nas (94-03) - no
    d'angelo (2000?) - no
travis (mid to late 2010s) - yes

    Nas has 3 primes btw.

The glow up of Tyler the Creator was beautiful to see. Liked Cherry Bomb but Flowerboy was clearly a step up imo and even though I hated it on first listen, I was eventually obsessed with Igor

I was on a J Cole forum late 2014 so I got to witness the announcement and release of 2014 FHD. Felt like he finally dropped an album that showed the potential he had

TPAB was Kendrick's prime imo. The Untitled performances. I even read To Kill a Mockingbird because I expected there to be some connection on the album. Still remember the low quality image of the cover on KTT and we thought that was Cole, Kanye and Obama on the cover Then the album leaked and everyone was talking about it. I remember listening to some of the album, going to bed and continuing my listen while getting ready for school the next morning. Had to take a seat when Mortal Man came on, s*** gave me goosebumps
