Black boy joy has to be the next logical evolution of the ‘image’ for mainstream black male rappers (and black male artists period). If rap stamped the burial of black boy joy along with the tradition of the covert Buck fantasy in American media’s representation of ideal black masculinity, and people are kinda over overly violent and macho portrayals of life in rap music…then black boy joy is the answer to that problem

Well hopefully that is. But hey, Miles Morales is pretty big

niggas already did that in 2016/2017 and it was awful

it’s so crazy not even a year ago niggas were on here pushing the agenda that street rappers ran rap, yet they’ve been dropping all year and flopping

  • Drake hasn’t dropped, that’s why.

The fact that the only rapper in 2023 to drop who’s in the “big deal” discussion is using positivity/pushback against negativity in hiphop as a rollout and even scored a #2 hit off of it is telling as well. This is a street rapper too kind you (and he also had commentary on the creative state of the genre in an Akademiks interview)

We nerds aren’t the only ones who see what’s going on. The time for denial is over - THAT WAY 👈🏾

everyone wants to listen to happy music when times are bad, then sad music when times are better

edm took off in the post-financial crisis years when everything was out of whack

the ‘image’ shift is not really up to rappers themselves but what people feel like

  • Jun 17, 2023

Hip hop is sort of getting tired
