Hip hop not being too dog anymore is a good thing. Now all the vultures that got into rap after 2015 will slowly fade away

Dog lol
Rappers are getting too comfortable in making forgettable music
And the culture shuns anyone who calls it out
also, we’re only 5 months in
We're basically at the halfway point in June so its more or less the same thing.
Morgan Wallen - 10 Weeks
Miley Cyrus - 8 Weeks
Taylor Swift - 2 weeks
Mariah Carey - 1 week
The Weeknd - 1 week
SZA - 1 Week
Jimin - 1 Week
It seems white america’s had a comeback with Morgan Wallen and Taylor Swift
As a bonus Miley forged a hit out of nowhere
we’re in hip hop ALBUM fatigue
listeners are feeling burned after listening to multiple overlong underpromoted boring rap albums
Haven’t been many major name drops iirc.
Plenty of good stuff from smaller artists, but baring Metro, whose album is a soundtrack, and Tyler, whose album is just a deluxe expansion of an existing album, I can’t think of any rappers who are big enough to have a shot at that #1 that have dropped this year
Cuz the mainstream s*** been inessential
Yup the mainstream hasn’t changed since 2017 except maybe a rapper or two
Drake, 21, Thug, Future, Migos, Uzi, Travis, Post Malone, YB, Kendrick, Cole, Gunna, etc
6 months and the biggest rapper who has dropped an album is Lil Durk
Sad sight.
this whole “hip hop is dying” “no rap albums have not topped the charts yet” thread discussion is getting old ngl. like y’all rap is gonna be fine i promise lol
All the mid rappers dropping forgettable mid
All the good rappers are still cooking
Also I think the mainstream has been going thru hip hop fatigue and want to listen to other s***
Imagine if Drake took 5-6 year breaks like some of you have been begging him to do?
you know it’s a rough year when the 5 most listened are
ice spice
nle choppa
don toliver
armani white (guy who made that billie eilish song)
