I don't care about the media, Youtube people and all that. I'm talking fan reactions. Reaction to both casts was bad because they don't look like the characters, but that's what these companies want, a big reaction even if the movies/shows flop.

The only exceptions are Jungle Book in the 90s and Cinderella & Petes Dragon in the 80s

Jungle book was good it just came before the wave of remakes AND the edgier Mowgli movie was better so it's kinda slept on

Just came back from a screening of this, definitely one of the best live action remakes, though I can see why someone would have some issues with it. I think it does the most with the budget, the underwater scenes are vibrant and beautiful. Halle is great as Ariel, as well as Melissa who I usually find annoying was a perfect Ursula. As far as the other cast, it ranged from pretty bad to just okay. Could’ve gone without awkwafina as the seagull. The eric actor did all he could with a bland character. But for the most part it had a great pace, fun musical numbers and remained visually great. I’d give it like a 7/10

saw it last night with my girl

-Bailey sounds JUST like Ariel
-the twists on the characters like Scuttle was dope, and Awkwafina actually made me chuckle a couple of times
-visuals were fantastic. Some shots even on the surface made me go, wow
-emotional with the Bardem/Bailey, they really play off each other well
-Ursula was great, Mccarthy disappeared into the role almost, and also sounded and looked just like Ursula

Best Disney remake so far, and my favorite one
