Yeah, this was pretty mid. Halle Bailey and her performance was like one of the few good things about this tbh. I also don't understand why the CGI was a mess from front to back with the budget this movie had. Looked like a pre-rendered PS3 video game cutscene half the time

Just learned about this song today. Came out in 1975 and has the same melody as Kiss The Girl lol. Especially at 2:20

I liked how wacky it looked actually. the zoom on Sebastian in the beginning was a choice tho, freaked me out

i genuinely liked this movie. good 8/10 and has replay value

movie was funnier than i thought itd be. halle bailey was greattt, she is pretty talented

My brother and his gf said it was okay, liked Halle’s singing but she isn’t really a seasoned theater singer. Said Javier Bardem was miscast, along with a few others underselling performances.

people applauded and cried in my theatre, all ages. I was watching with my gf and thought I might just sleep but it ended up being a pleasant watch

Just watched Renfield and damn maybe awkwafina should stick to voice acting cuz she was HORRENDOUS and hard to watch

Just watched this. Cringe at times, yet charming.

Pros:

• They made Sebastian a little funnier and his chemistry with Scuttle was great

• Halle’s singing was fantastic

• Guy who played Eric gave a wonderful performance. In fact, I think all the actors who played human characters did fantastic.

• There were some really beautiful visual moments. Ariel being swept around during Under The Sea stands out.

Cons:

• I felt Halle’s emotional expression was a little lacking.

• The mermaids looked goofy af

• The songs they added weren’t written very well imo. That Uncharted Waters song sounded awful to me

• Bardem and McCarthy were miscasts. Especially Bardem

• CGI was iffy all around. Giant Ursula looked terrible.

All in all, it’s still a cute story with good songs and the Ariel/Eric chemistry felt real. If I were to walk by a TV and it was on, I would probably stop and watch for a bit.
