I don’t really care either. I just hate when these studios go back and change these characters black just so they can cash out on the black community. Let black creators make original characters and have creative freedom. Give us new stories. Instead we’re in this era of rebooting everything for nostalgia and cashing out on black people

companies cash out on damn near EVERY demographic.
them cashing out on black ppl sounds like equality to me. this is gonna be a good thing for halle. there are PLENTY of original black created shows and movies. guess what? they dont do as well bc ppl arent watching them like they say they would. and having a reboot of one of the most popular childrens movie with a multi talented Black woman lead is big even if it feels reductive

its like when ppl say "oh this group loves this artist? then why did their last album flop? why did their tour get cut short? seems like the support isnt real"

No it’s because original black stories don’t get promoted like these soul deprived reboots. Jordan Peele’s movies are a good example of great original black stories that get a lot of love

Those movies are based of books though. But I don’t mind reboots if they actually got a lot of care and preparation behind them. Dune is pretty good but that’s also based on a book. A majority of reboots are weak though
