Can I dispute rent with capital one? I don’t want it going in my credit and s***.
My lease at my apartment is ending on the 15th and I have to be out by the 15th. But they still are charging me a full month of rent and I was wondering if I could pay the rent, dispute the charge, and later get my money back from my bank since my lease ends and it doesn’t make sense to pay full rent since I’m not going to be there.
Yes you can dispute, but landlord can fight back in which case you'll have to take him to court (and it's questionable if they'd side in your favor). First I would reach out to the landlord since disputing is a bit of a time consuming process

You think they’ll really take me to court ? It would just be one month. I called the leasing office and they told me to pay the full amount

Lol yes

I'm not saying they would, I'm saying if bank decides to not grant your dispute after talking to the landlord, that you'd need to. Though if you do dispute, they'll probably be a lot stricter about checking things to return your security deposit
Really OP unless your rent is crazy high, I'd say it's best to cut your losses

It’s $1400 and I ran out of financial aid I been paying this s*** myself when normally my financial aid would cover it

That’s why I was going to dispute after they give me my security deposit
I'm sure your lease started in the middle of the month and you were essentially paying 15th to 15th the whole time you were there

Lol that's smart. A bit cooked so didn't think about it. Still though, would reach out first and see if you can figure something out with the landlord since disputes take a month minimum (in my case at least)
Yes
Can you go back and count how many times you’ve paid a whole month’s rent and then report back? Think it would give you clarity

I paid full rent starting on January 6th
This situation is def confusing and can lead to you being taken advantage of. But there’s also a chance you’re misunderstanding imo

I’ve been paying $1400 since January 6th.
6 month lease??
Yes I’m in college and that’s how long the semesters are kinda. January - May is spring semester.

I called the office and they told me to pay the full amount but I don’t see it in the lease anywhere? I’m going to call back tomorrow for clarity

I’m going to call the leasing office tomorrow and ask again… thanks. I just don’t want it to go on my credit.

Did you do the count for me? Would help your case a lot fam

If true and you’ve paid every month since then your first month rent would cover the 15 days of rent they’re asking for rn and they can’t legally do that
