Tell them your rent needs to be prorated for the amount of days you’ll be there this month. Let them know you’re a student who was using financial aid to pay rent and that you only had enough budgeted to cover the amount of days you were actually going to be in the unit.

Same situation happened to me at my last two spots. They charged me for the full month even though I was there for half of it. Then they refunded me the overage within 30 days. I’m assuming the same thing will happen for you, but you need to go talk to them. Try to stand firm on paying a prorated amount and see how it plays out.

Edit: Also, if you have the money to pay the rent, don’t do that credit card s***. They have to give you the excess money back within a set amount of days depending on what state you’re in.
