That’s why I cautiously inserted his name. He’s another x-factor.

Post 2017 you saw the rise of a new Big 3
Baby - Gunna - Kodak (shades of NBA) and now you have Durk, DaBaby, and Pooh Shiesty

But the rise was due primarily to streaming not selling out arenas or major venues so are Drake, Cole, and Kendrick still the big 3?

Those are 2 diff convos man. Selling tickets and hottest music aren’t correlated. No one ever claimed these guys could sell as many tickets as drake.

When it comes to rap, of course I'm going to Kanye West show which has live arrangements and some crazy visuals, of course I'm going to Jay Z show which is just stunning, expensive, and dude spits live for 2 hours. I was at The Game show and it was live and everything was amazing.

But, sorry, if the rapper uses his own songs as playback and builds hype only on his persona then I probably pass on that. I can see myself going to Future show just because I like his music, but also I can see why many people won't go because of the quality of live performance.

yea i don't think big 3 is based on tickets cause once ur established as rap legend you will sell tickets even if music doesn't.

example beyonce jayz tha carters STADIUM TOUR

    Whole conversation sounded racist.

Well DJ Akademiks is a self-hating coon so it's normal for his convos/discussions to drift into that territory.

Jay Z has a cheat code (his wife)

Ice Cube is just as much of a legend as Jay Z and he’s not selling out any major venue

tha carters album didn't sell that well and they went on and did a stadium tour.

This is also a problem with putting some of these artists on a platform (or in this case stage) they have no business being on. Not yet at least. These niggas get hot off one or two songs then they think they can sell out a tour...gonna be performing the same two songs three times a night

Because you sell more tickets as your fanbase gets older. Kids make rappers hot. Adults buy tickets. Not correlated. 2 totally diff things.

    Facts

    But Beyoncé

In theory, with an album that doesn’t do well (the Carter’s) and Jay on the bill by himself I don’t see him selling out stadiums

The performance doesn’t have much to do as u think. These kids have the time of their lives at festivals.

It’s just more convenient for them to get money to see 10 of their fav rappers at once than buy a ticket to each individual tour.

kendrick and cole audience like the same tbh

    Not really

Cole been had the female love since Born Sinner and also he’s had more casual rap/music fans also (which is why you see athletes and s*** fw him heavy) and then he also has gotten more love in the hood than Kendrick

Before DAMN that is, now with a mainstream release like that he on another level

  • Jul 13, 2021

Niggas been saying this bout Drake for years

The fact rap has gotten to this point is amazing though bc it was never meant for mass consumption

And just dumb. Ak’s talking about Future and Meek not being able to sell out arenas and the brown guy responds by mentioning that Tekashi “sells out” shows due to his Hispanic fan base.

In actuality, 6ix9ine has zero chance of selling out an arena show. His album went copper first week

Yea the undertone was like “if you only make music for black people yo s*** won’t pop off”

The irony is they talking about black music lol

yea even Nicki couldnt do it at her peak (sell out arena’s)

Still waiting on those new US dates

Yup. Arenas are more of a privilege than a right.

You can't just start off trying to do arenas when you just get hot. That's shooting yourself in the foot. Especially when you got a Chiraq nigga dissing opps like Durkio with you lol.

Lil Baby needs at least 2 more major album cycles and another slew of hits to be able to pull this off successfully.

hes doing a arena tour with Durk, curious to how it does
