There are a lot of dumb things about NFTs but the undeniable upside is for artists rn
You can make so much more money selling ur s*** as an NFT than you would get from commissions or streaming
Idk if I’m just ignorant but this NFT s*** the dumbest thing ever

I still think it's kinda useless since it's been highly accepted that the art doesn't matter. It's the use behind the NFT's and what returns they can bring to people.
Rich people trying to get more rich. Poor people fomoing into trying to get rich. A few poor people getting lucky and getting rich.
As an artist, I've seen more s*** art get more money than anything that has had any value or skills to create. Most of the art is made cheap and quick as an outsourced project on top of the skills of coders and engineers.
So that's how it is in my PoV.

it's like the star market, you can buy stars and name them
Remember buying stars was romantic imagine someone now pulling up to a date saying "babe I bought you a nft ape"
Idk if I’m just ignorant but this NFT s*** the dumbest thing ever
nah you're reasonable
I really wanna do a public interview in a setting with people who take visual arts really serious and ask them about NFT’s.

Gotta disagree. Sure there are some artists who will get lucky and make money but the NFT market is extremely easy to manipulate if you have the funds to do so. A ton of those posts you see where s*** sells for millions of dollars is just straight up lies as the funds get immediately transferred back to original owner.
There's also cases a s*** ton of examples of people buying and selling their own NFT's to themselves (using multiple accounts) to artificially increase the price until some sucker comes along and buys it a hugely inflated price.
Plus there's a huge problem with theft. If you spend any time on the artist side of twitter you'll constantly see posts of people having their artwork stolen and made into NFT's.
The "little man" very rarely makes significant money in this space by just turning their artwork into NFT's.

What is the most effective argument against broke artists selling their s*** as NFT's because they know their chance of selling is higher than if they just sold their work traditionally? Like outside of NFT's being fundamentally stupid and a lot of the rich people stuff/shit art that NFT's are and should be defined by, is there a compelling argument for small artists (who make great capital-A Art) that doesn't involve morality/environment/bad optics rebuttals
Because I think a distinction between being a participant and being a critic would allow for that space to become more politicized/less miracle spiritual amongst the most vulnerable groups that are getting into it. When I'm on twitter and read through profiles I see so many people who read like they're fomo-ing and trying to make rent more than I read people who espouse libertarian tech-bro identities/ideologies

I'm good at drawing, lemme turn you into an NFT
I'll put the bonnet on you and everything, just pay me 10k
