Point is.. did we, the consuming public at large EVER give a f*** or use that to discredit him? Did we do it to Aretha when Otis wrote Respect? Whitney or Celine (biggest ww album sellers for women) when others wrote their hits? Most artists that big don’t even write their most transcendent hit records. It’s only a stan culture thing tbh
WE are not the consuming public though, this site is a niche forum that looks at music differently than the average person. I’m not saying we’re better or vice versa but you have to understand the audience in which this conversation is being held in.
It’s the same site that puts emphasis on a lot of different topics that the general public doesn’t care about.
I’m saying Beyoncé not writing her music and or doing X element and somebody telling me she’s the goat over another acclaimed artist who does, doesn’t sit with me.
“I see SZAs lyrics in women I’ve dated. Plus men got insecurities too, just because she’s a women doesn’t mean men can’t relate. We get jealous too or whatever.”
“A lot of Beyoncé’s music is on some drag queen diva type s***.”
It’s easier to just say that her lead singles turns you off (being more feminine) from actually listening through her catalog for yourself.. the music is good.. she’s overrated as most stars of her caliber are, but most of the respect her music receives is warranted. to imply that the bulk of her music is somehow emasculating where your alternative, SZA, requires you to actually say outta your mouth “Lie to me and say my booty getting bigger even if it ain't” is something lol.. but cook, my guy!
Sza is dope and I’m waiting on the full release of
Man I didn’t expect people to write college papers on this. You win bruh.
dont you guys listen to destiny’s child at least?????
Cater 2 U is a classic
This is what the game needs. More songs about women appreciating their man and showing love. No more hot girl summer anthems.
MJ having writers has been a BIG topic on his career when being compared to artists like Prince fym?
R&b is about vocal performance first and foremost
No one gives a f*** about writers and having writers has never been, nor should it be, a reason to knock someone. Every goat r&b artist has used them. It’s a non-topic.
"This one female artist who makes music targeted towards women appeals to me more as a man than this other female artist who makes music targeted towards women" is a nonsensical argumentative stance lowkey.
OP not wrong she didn’t start making good albums till self titled
Huh? B'Day was great

I admit I was wildin 😂, but the amount of time you probably spend scrolling on this forum on a weekly basis, you damn near already reading complete novels of bullshit going from thread to thread.. scrolling and reading all day.. can’t be that bad
