i dont really understand why on earth anyone would date someone they don't politically align with

From my experience ppl will immediately assume your opinion on everything from one or two stances. So the image you paint definitely matters.

It’s nice to have some friction w a partner on unserious things like politics

my girlfriend and i are both leftist and still have slightly different views on things that we end up talking about

i couldn't imagine trying to do that but one of you is leftist and the other is on the right lol

I haven’t been in the dating game in a long time but I would imagine if I were single today there are things that would be a non negotiable to me. I wouldn’t consider it political per say (although obviously I get why it is) but really just a morality pass for me

I just think for me it gets way into identity politics. I can feel comfortable disagreeing with someone on things like the economy which is what I’d describe as political but things like basic human rights I don’t see as political that’s just a what type of person you are immediately based on your response

Yeah i wouldnt date someone who subscribes to any bigoted or oppressive ideologies

And i wouldnt date someone who calls themself apolitical or act like theyre above caring about anything political
