Atmos does an incredible job with it tho, so it's not as good but if you just want 5.1 and don't want speakers everywhere a good soundbar with Atmos is a very fair compromise

My Sonos sound bar sound god damn amazing

  • Oct 16, 2021

tbh I bought a decent LG soundbar with a subwoofer and it's honestly better than I was expecting. packs a punch and the sound is nice and clear. I ayed around with another one before setting on this one (best buy return policy is nice)

does it completely replicate 5.1 maybe not. but since I live in a small apartment its actually good.

you guys amazed by soundbars gonna have you head knocked off when you hear a proper setup lol. not even a super expensive setup is needed to easily out perform a soundbar

you cant always run speaker wire if theres no access behind the walls or ceilings

I got a Polk React Setup and I love it. I don’t even use the surround sound speakers.

it's really good but it doesn't compare to 5.1 or even better 5.1.2 / 5.2.4 (sound actually coming from above just hits different than it bouncing down)

people that say yes haven't used a system with proper 5.1 audio decoding it can blow your mind

you can get used speakers and a receiver/amp on eBay for a $100 that will decode basically everything besides atoms and you can spend a few hundred for atoms

    I recommend Onkyo or Denon

quality Speakers and receivers will last for decades

You got the beam or the arc

Soundbars are definitely a good alternative to a dedicated sound system. Of course nothing is every gonna beat the real thing, but a soundbar alone is still a massive upgrade from TV speakers or a Bluetooth speaker.

I got the tcl alto 8.1. Goes with my 65” 6 series. It does the job well. When I first got it I was getting noise complaints from my neighbors, it’s Dolby atmos capable, provides clear speech, and does a pretty good job with bass. I can’t run a sub wolfer in my crib cause I stay in a high rise, and that will probably just cause way too much noise for the people below me.

Might get the sonos arc, cause I wanna get another tv soon

Word. Do the 2 together get obnoxious or can you still run them quieter and have it sound great

You can definitely run them quieter and still feel the bass from the sub.

At loud volumes the bass is definitely chest thumping.

Incase you're a student or have a student email, you can get a 15% off code from unidays to apply to your Sonos .com order. Just a heads up incase you didn't know.
