We know there are some that express themselves and most of the time that s*** get's put off as corny, but I feel like the majority doesn't really out themselves and their own political ideas, even in politically loaded times like these.

    -Do they even care?
-Are they too busy with their own lifes, so they can't dive into the materia? -Or is my perception completely mistaken?
-Was rap more politically loaded in the past?
-Did we as listeners care more?

    What's your thoughts.

  • what type of political songs do we even wanna hear at this point.

    I say it's whatever

Yeah what the govt does directly effects you, the lobbyists in power want you to remain ignorant so they can get away with all of their crimes.

You don't care about people getting criminal records for pot but the bankers who crashed the economy get off free?

You're just another pawn to the powers that be

Bro most people in general do not give a s*** about politics and all that bullshit. So ofc rappers don’t.

Even most “political” rappers just say obvious s*** and never dive Deeper than surface level when it comes to politics.

The most political dialogue that comes out of most rappers is “hurr durr trump bad”.

Dont yall agree Hip Hop Culture should be more than just the music?
The message of empowerment was way stronger back in the days. I mean I dont fault rappers to be not knowledgeable enough to talk about the political landscape, thats not their job, but the culture had more self-reflective elements and social criticism.

That's exactly who we should hear out tho. Those people are valid voters and influence America's political system.

When you take into account most people's political ideas are shaped by their home life and life experience as long as they truly care and their hearts are in the right place they have a valid opinion.

I used to talk to trump supporters to try and understand why. And it appears came down to home experience and life experience.

There's still people in the heated american landscape that try to understand each other and their upbringings?
    Hats off.
And we shouldnt belittle people only because they have a lower education in the school system, they've got other experiences they can contribute and we can understand why they think like they do and what were the problems in their situation, helping to empower those that come after them that are in a similar situation.

I think hiphop always reflects the environment. It's just in theese times political issues have taken a back seat to personal issues. Theese issues get dealt with first before politics because politically i don't think we have a true candidate/ campaign yet.

At least as far as politically killer Mike is taking a strong stance towards ideas proposed by Garvey. Which I f*** with wholeheartedly.

Hiphop revolved around Obama in 08 as well. Only time will tell.

I agree it's 100% true that Hip Hop reflects the environment.
Hip Hop was born outta a sense of solidarity, I dunno how/if todays american culture that revolves around the individual rather than the community has influenced this. People don't think about the collective and their place inside a society anymore, they just fight for themselves instead of working together.
