    this might answer your question

    /thread

  • Dec 15, 2019

To those who don't care, some questions (not in a judging way, I'm just curious):

    • Do you see living life as being just about yourself?
    • Do you want to leave something behind that's bigger than yourself or are you content enough with just getting by?
    • What about your children or the future of humanity?
    • Isn't it worth thinking about how we treat each other for those who come after us?
    • If no, why?
  • Dec 15, 2019

Wow, when I'm asking questions where people have to think about and question themselves suddendly no one responds anymore. Are you scared to discover something bout yourself?

Huh? Fam who cares what some guy who has never thought about politics has to say about it

Go through political rap history and it’s mostly low iq guys just repeating what’s cool (Or edgy) at the time... socialism, bush did the towers, back to Africa, black lives matter

I already told you before I dont expect them to be rapping about actual political topics if they dont have experience in that field. I'm talking about politics in a broader sense and about individualism vs community in the culture. Surely a lot don't have the education or cognitive ability to disect these topics, and as I said I dont expect them, but still they could promote solidarity with the weak and less fortune as a value, you dont need to have high functioning cognitive abilities to do that, just a sense of empathy. I dont expect a new KRS to rise, but the values of empowerment can still be promoted by them, artists can promote values and will have an impact on their listeners mindset.

And you didnt answer the questions.

“Promote the weak and less fortunate”

White liberals do this 24/7 365. It’s everywhere. It’s practically a fashion trend to do it.

I don’t think we need every rapper to rap about “the less fortunate” whoever that even is

If you're in the US, it absolutely impacts you

Even if you don't live in the US.

It's even more impactful than for most US citizens in some countries.

Dont yall agree Hip Hop Culture should be more than just the music?
The message of empowerment was way stronger back in the days. I mean I dont fault rappers to be not knowledgeable enough to talk about the political landscape, thats not their job, but the culture had more self-reflective elements and social criticism.

Rappers , other than Kanye, have a tendency to say political stuff that sounds edgy but is actually the safest thing you could say

Like when logic said he’d suck a d*** to prove he loves gays or whatever.

Young kids are like “oh wow he’s fighting for the oppressed” when in reality pro-gay is 100 times bigger than anti-gay is today. He said it in a time with zero risk and people act like it was brave. Brave would be disagreeing with the gay agenda (not advocating it just saying that’s the stance that will get you black listed, it would definitely get you banned here)

Compare that to Kanye repping pink and being called gay when rap and the world were not as pro gay, even just 15 years ago.

TLDR: rappers say political s*** that sounds brave/woke/edgy but is actually just mainstream accepted stuff. Plus they hardly know what they are saying they just parrot.

It's funny that the first thing you mention when talking about minorites or oppressed ain't refugees or people that work three jobs but still can't afford living above the existential minimum, but people with homosexual orientation.

You make it sound like it ain't just to fight for a right cause when it's the majorities opinion. And I'm not saying that there aint people that only do this for clout, like the examples you mentioned, you're surely right about that. And you're also right about the Ye part of course.
So you'd rather have them not be parrots and side against oppressed people? And I'm not talking about homosexuals, I'm talking about other examples, like the ones I mentioned above.
If those people wouldn't have any problems we wouldn't have the need to fight for it and advocate.

  • Bruh do you really need offsets opinion on who's running for mayor?

TLDR you want rappers to rap about raising the minimum wage more?

Who are all these oppressed people?

    It’s 2019 nobody is oppressed.

Every major corporation has black man white woman commercials, they’re constantly raising the minimum wage, every other commercial pushes gays or trans, most corps have actual diversity quotas they need to fill.

I mean for real only people left that are oppressed are oppressing themselves with poor decision making/mental attitude

You're limiting your view to the first world.
What about all the people in the third world those companies are profiting from?
And only because stereotypes are now used in commercial and there are people with black skin being successfull doesn't mean that everything is alright, even in america.
The mantra of personal responsibility can't be applied to everyone, you're not thinking about the people with physical disabilities or that don't have a high-cognitive functioning brain, like people with learning disorders.

You want to be a social darwinist and just let those people be dropped on the scrapeyard of civilization or what?

  • Dec 15, 2019

When you try to work on society and create a better life for everyone yes, there is constantly something to be outraged about in times like these.

1 i doubt many of the current popular acts would have anything useful to say. a lot of them can fancy their days with the things money can buy, and typically if they're doing that, they're not spending much time thinking about how they could use their platform. they have managers, etc. that direct them as to how they use their platform, which leads me to...

2 hip hop is pop nowadays, and what's pop usually isn't going to be anything genuinely challenging

But I asked above, what is your reason for being in this world?
Just getting by and have the most comfortable life?
What will be left after you leave this world?
