I'm trying to fast for 8-10 hours a day for Lent but I can't keep it up consistently because I can't eat my big meal at the same time everyday. And I'm running around 5-6km every morning. I've got so much respect for Muslims, they do it for like 12 hours everyday and I'm cheating by drinking water during the day too
I do it these past years and the one month thing actually goated. The first week is the harshest and you want to go crazy when breaking the fast but after your body adjust to the new schedule a big meal starts to feel inconvenient and unnecessary and this apply to both the morning meal and breaking the fast

yeah you can drink black coffee.. no milk/cream/sugar tho.
and you can drink water. (I think religious fasting abstains from water tho)
I fast most days 16:8. it’s not even that hard esp if you don’t stay up too late.

Just bare with it. The feeling comes and goes. I'm in the middle of my weekend fast rn and I just try to distract myself with other things so when the hunger pains come it doesn't bother me as much.

I haven’t read up on it. It was something I accidentally was doing during college then found out about it and became more strict about it
Personally benefited me by helping me lose a lot of weight and helped lower my cholesterol. (I also ran a mile everyday tho)
For me I always had a bad habit of snacking when bored so this helps keep that to a minimum
