    Yes and I hate it

We already had “Latin American” and Hispanic as far as gender neutral terms go

Idgi.. why not just say "latin" (or latin american) instead of latinx - this pronounciation just sounds stupid.

  • May 9, 2021

I thought Latino was a blanket statement when referring to a group of people?

  • May 9, 2021

if a white person used those words with someone with that ethnicity they would probably laugh

if you're not a part of the Latino/Latinx community or haven't done your research on the origins of the term and the inclusive language movement you should not be giving your opinion in here

same rules that should apply to white people on this forum giving their opinion on black issues

    From Wikipedia

Supporters say it promotes greater acceptance of non-binary Latinos by being gender-neutral and thus inclusive of all genders... the Royal Spanish Academy style guide does not recognize the suffix -x. Both supporters and opponents have cited linguistic imperialism as a reason for supporting or opposing the use of the term.

  • What is happening to society man. Feel like these people have nothing better to worry about.

the push for more inclusive language might seem like a move toward real progress or real change but there's not really anything revolutionary about it. It seems to only lead to more infighting as the terminology evolves and once everyone is settled with the new vocabulary, a few people will take issue with it and invent new terminology that improves upon the inclusivity, but to the point that we don't even know what we're talking about anymore. What is the end goal? At what point can we move on from it and start prioritizing the material conditions of marginalized people over endlessly refining symbolic gestures and terminology we use to talk about them?
