Kanye debuted 5 years before Drake, and he had numerous commercial peaks, his most recent being 8 years ago.

Drake’s commercial peak was 6 years ago.

No he’s right tbh, you don’t have to look at it through the lens of “elitism”.

you should look at chart topping music as music that is the most accessible to the average listener, with a slight positive correlation with said music being “good”.

Doesn’t necessarily mean that the music that tops the charts is the best of the best, that’s not really true all the time, it’s just very accessible, very easy to get into.

It’s why Call of duty might be the best selling video game, but it’s not necessarily the best video game in terms of quality.

It’s why the highest grossing film of the year in cinemas won’t necessarily be the greatest film that year.
