They both was experimenting with Country sounds in their own ways, but that don't make it a Country album.

Plus they used the same marketing process.

in what sense is cowboy carter not a country album, what box does it not check

It's a Beyonce album like JT's MOTW was a JT album.

  • Cowboy Artist

    Prince and Stevie -- no.

Michael too. Maybe you left him off because it goes without saying.

Lmfao she makes a faux country album like JT did with MOTW.

We try to put her up there with the greatest

They were saying this before she even dropped that album though lol

Also it's definitely a country-pop album. I'd say it's at least much more country than that Justin Timberlake bullshit was

  • hell no

Prince was a different beast. He dropped constant heat for more than a decade, like back-to-back generation defining 'definition of perfect' albums like Sign o the Times.

BEYONCÉ was an 8/10, Lemonade a 9/10, Renaissance a 10/10 and Cowboy Carter also seems to be an instant classic (ain't listened yet)

People really downplay Prince's dominance in the 80s. Like from '79-89 it was literally classic after classic after classic.

  • Yes her and gaga

  • Last three Solo albums are really really good!

  • She has done nothing inventive or innovative as an artist and she doesn't have an album on par with any of their prime works, so f*** no.

  • Yes.

  • In terms of impact and relevance, longevity etc yeah. In terms of her best work she doesn't have anything as good.

  • The Weeknd, Frank Ocean or Janelle Monae have a better case musically as being compared to them

  • KingOfPop

    What a groundbreaking revelation

A prince stan downplaying MJs ability as an artist.. because he didn’t play guitar?

    “Musicianship and artistry” be fr

i don’t want beef with you brother. i wasn’t disrespecting michael in any way. i love michael and he was a true artist. what i said is way more nuanced than that

  • No but she's a great artist of her generation. It's just that those others are the pinnacle of music and she hasn't really done anything to place herself among them

well if we’re talking about artistry even prince and stevie weren’t putting out great albums like renaissance and cowboy carter 25+ years into their career

    just throwing that out there

that’s arguable and objectively false in both cases but go off. you obviously know VERY little about the careers of both musicians and are so laughably wrong but again, go off. i mean it would’ve taken you a single f***ing google search just to see how wrong you are yet you posted what you posted anyway, so go off.

  • f*** yeh, songwriting aside.
