damn he calling out Guided by Voices i cant believe this
LOL that’s when you know he’s trying too hard
Let Robert Pollard cook
they dont "need" to do anything. Only some artist can evolve their sound and do something new and it actually comes out good
Yea he’s kinda doing the same thing on every project
How do tpab and damn sound similar in the slightest

im kidding he doesnt actually but that woulda been funny!
HARD disagree. certain niggas will never succeed until they find their niche. I agree that it helps to be versatile when you're making music but to say every artist should try to be Tyler or Kanye is gonna lead a lot of people to failure instead of drawing up their own plans for success
I will be fine with that if the artist want to stay in the same lane to just be safe. But I want to see some growth along with it and do some experimental like Yeezuz to the show who they are as person. I want to listen music what the vison from the artist and from their souls what they wanted and what type music they wanted really to make overall.

It sounds like a continuation? Look I’m not hating on Kendrick. I like his music a lot.
I remember when J Cole was the punching bag on here.
Never thought I'd see the day when Kendrick would take Coles spot.
It’s just cuz he dropped a new album and it’s a bit divisive.
Give it a few months and most people won’t be talking s***.

Breh. TPAB and DAMN sound nothing alike lmao.

When it was J Cole there were actual critiques of his music
Ive genuinely never seen a critique of MMATBS on here that was in good faith
kendrick's versatility is vastly overstated, like nothing on big steppers would feel completely out of place on any of his previous projects
not to nitpick your statement, but i think that's the point:
the production on this record has its own identity but there are clearly records meant to call back to previous project sounds
auntie diaries has a gkmc sound and delivery
father time has a damn sound and delivery
worldwide steppers: tpab, you get the point
When it was J Cole there were actual critiques of his music

this is sort of true
a lot of it is "kendrick isnt the cultural zeitgeist anymore" "album came and went" type stuff, never anything about the musicality of the record really. just people catching on that the rollout was purposefully dead-weighted--as if though people havent seen what kendrick looks like going out of his way to make an album pop (damn)

Many users on here prefer DAMN over TPAB because it was such a switch up, I've seen "commercial sound" in reference to DAMN on here literally over a hundred times That post is such a lie
artists need to do whatever it takes to maximize their streams which leads to higher profits for their labels, the actual music is moot
google base and superstructure

Wrong. None of his albums sound similar.
