    Serious question

I genuinely feel like it’s just taking advantage of men & even women who put their self worth into money-status-material things. And it’s funny how much the government and corporations benefit from people falling into this because they think it should be normal to need multiple streams of income just to SURVIVE in America. Also has to be the driving factor in modern consumerism. It’s a twisted version of the american dream and too many people fall for it sadly

And no hustle culture is not about investing in yourself anymore, same thing with the red pill movements imo cause they closely align

  • Aug 28, 2023

No one actually worth anything participates in this unless they profit form it

Either that or cry hysterically about capitalism

"Hustle culture" has always existed in America.

    It is America.

Wether thats good or bad is a different story.

    But it is America.

Even in the 50s they were telling men at work and women at home to do "more" for "yourself and neighbor and country" beyond just you and your community needs.

Working & money is America since the 40s.

Its a version of perfectionism is a way, which is something America has been obsessed with too since the 1900s.

    Hustling culture? No
Busting my balls so I don’t have to live check by check and try to find some sort of joy in this mundane life? Yes

  • Aug 28, 2023

I don’t align with spending every waking hour grinding and hustling to make money

I align with working smarter so that you make more money doing less work in the long run

definitely has but the standard has grown to an unsustainable level just like many other things here . People having to monetize every single hobby they think of and use every platform to sell themselves or basically work multiple jobs is becoming a standard when that was just just a community thing back then. Which we need more of actually. I understand the dream of generational wealth but it’s made so many people a salesmen and bad ones at that

It's not. After the 2024 election, and by the time the later part of this decade rolls around I'm predicting that the younger portion of Millennials and older portion of Zoomers are going to become a yuppie 2.0 culture as inflation will continue to fall, and America will most likely see another "Reagan" (as in the 40 year cycle that seems to occur). I'm also suspecting the "laziness" culture of the late 10's and early 20's is going to continue to die off, and "productivity + hustling 24/7 is the lifestyle".

Sometimes i wish i had no shame and could just sell insurance plans to gullible people on the side cause this thread is honestly inspired from someone who does that lmaoo

the fall under the same umbrella
MLMs sell people the dream of being financially free and superior to those who do 9-5s

there’s also people who work long hours or do multiple jobs under the pretense of hustling and getting what they want

the latter is usually people who need to survive by doing that, but some think it’s normal when it shouldn’t be

Hustle culture is the modern day equivalent to the whole Reagan era "let's make lots of money" jargon back in the 80's. The only difference back then was that Wall Street was primarily the go-to job. Whereas now in Late Stage Capitalism it's "remote work"

The culture surrounding it in the last decade or so has been completely different. Wages continue to stagnate as more and more requirements reach jobs with less expectations for the roles. fortune.com/2023/08/11/job-hunting-zoomers-want-stress-free-jobs-without-responsibilities-overtime-genz fortune.com/2023/08/23/gen-z-lazy-girl-jobs-trend-work-life-balance forbes.com/sites/larryalton/2016/12/22/millennials-are-struggling-to-get-jobs-heres-why-and-what-to-do-about-it forbes.com/sites/ashleystahl/2019/12/17/what-millennials-actually-want-out-of-their-job
Basically it's that the people who are in control at these businesses are not retired yet, which is leaving the deficit between old and young. Since this has been happening more and more young people are opting out of anything including forgoing a college degree or any higher education than high school. What's going to happen is that the older people who are in charge right now are going to age out of these positions in a few years (when we start seeing it really happen in real time) and young people are going to start taking the role. This also has to do with the whole postponement "of adulthood" where many people under 40 years old are unable to afford their own houses or apartments, their own lives, etc. What's going to happen is inheritance soon, as the older generations start to be put into nursing homes or dying off (sadly).
