As i’ve gotten older i’ve realized how silly it is to hold entertainment to that standard but i think its f***ed up people sleep on how influential rap can be because there are much bigger socioeconomic causes to what we could say are symptoms of negative rap influence but f*** it i guess lol

I appreciate Drake because he's authentically petty and sensitive in spite of how reckless he talks on wax

  • I don't really care. I just listen to music and don't get into parasocial relationships with artists

  • I think there’s a way to be authentically making music that’s a “performance” or “telling a story” without it being a “LARP” or cosplay or whatever. I’m thinking of old country artists singing from the perspective of protagonists that reflect certain themes or stories that ~are~ authentic to the artist without being their life story, or rappers who are painting a picture of a certain life or things that they’ve seen to get at a larger point or emotion that is authentic to their perspective even if it’s not their real life . I don’t listen to enough Lizzo to comment on this instance specifically, but I suspect if she was rapping about buying strippers for her dancers I’d like the music more lol

  • Yes

I’ll still fw their music if they arent but I def value artist who seem authentic more

  • think her situation has more to do with her being more of a pop commodity than being inauthentic directly

  • It's cool if they are but also impressive if they arent but can still sell it. It's a performance and they are basically actors.
