ITT: I compare Eminem to Redman, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, and Public Enemy, and 75% of the thread demands I rank him even higher.
The stans are out today.
Mos Def made a comeback on The Ecstatic
Hov made a comeback on 4:44
Nas made a comeback on Stillmatic
Raekwon made a comeback on OB4CL2
Em putting out a mediocre album as opposed to a trash album =/= a certified comeback lol. Come on now. Hip hop is a competitive sport.
Of course he isn’t the nigga spent the last decade proving why he isn’t the GOAT. On top of that he’s white which makes it hard for him to impact the culture in certain ways. One of the greatest technical rappers ever we can never take that from him. He’s just not in the GOAT convo to me.

Eminem made MTBMB
Eminem made MTBMB
MTMB isn't in the same galaxy as The Ecstatic, 4:44, Stillmatic, or OB4CL2 lmao. Not even tangential to the convo.
Kamikaze is toilet water aside from tracks 1 and 3. 1 is mediocre, 3 is good. the rest of the album sucks just as bad as revival.
The Ringer, Greatest, Lucky you, Kamikaze, Fall i think are all great/enjoyable tracks, especially those you mentioned and just the album as a whole is far superior to Revival because at least the mixing and his flow/lyrics are not as dogshit.
Yeah i agree with you, it's not a great album by any means but he at least showed that still has it in him in a few tracks, you know?
Like MTBMB has some Em's best song since who knows when: I Will, You Gon Learn, Darkness, Premonition, Little Engine ( )

self-titled track on Kamikaze has one of the worst beats I've heard in my entire life. Fall is gross with the Tyler diss, call me a cuck or whatever you want for that idgaf but Em went too far and I say this as someone who loves SSLP and MMLP. And congrats, the fundamental engineering of a high budget rap album is basically sound. Idgaf lol, a GOAT should not be getting props for having the fundamentals down. That's to be expected of a GOAT.
Darkness was a p good song tho

only white guys who don't immediately make me cringe if someone was to call them the GOAT of hip hop are the beastie boys. they're not my GOAT rap group personally, but they're good enough artists who have enough of an impact where the opinion from an informed mouthpiece of the culture isn't completely ridiculous.

The bar got so low for Em that it didn’t take much for people to start claiming he’s back.

it pisses me off because if Nas or Jay dropped an album at that level after, say "Nastradamus" or "Magna Carta Holy Grail", they'd get ripped for it. Em drops it, and from a lower pedestal than either of the aforementioned albums, and suddenly it's a return to form lmao. Enough with giving this guy a huge pass.
I literally said he's a legend
In the OP, second sentence, "he's definitely a legend"
He's just not a GOAT.
GOATs rarely if ever miss. Jay is a GOAT, G Rap is a GOAT, Rakim is a GOAT, Guru is a GOAT, Pac is a GOAT, Tribe are GOATs, Beastie Boys, Roots, etc
Em in the same category as like, Redman, Ice Cube, Method Man, Public Enemy, Snoop Dogg, etc. Incredible primes but sagging back catalogs that hold them back a bit.
Jay has a LOT of misses dawg, c'mon.

Jay has a few mid albums, but no bad ones.
And I'm being fair because I didn't call Relapse, Recovery, MMLP2, or Infinite bad. They're not bad, they're mid (I'd even say Relapse is good). But Em has 4 certifiable flops. Nas has 1 flop.

Magna Carta Holy Grail and Kingdom Come are bad

Chuck D a GOAT
Chuck D a GOAT
Chuck D individually as a lyricist, probably. But PE as a group? No, their discog after 94 sags tremendously and I love PE.
Magna Carta Holy Grail and Kingdom Come are bad
Nah, the beats on the former were gas, and some of those singles still come on at parties. KC even more so. They were mediocre albums.
No, Eminem hasn't been better than Sosa 2010-2019 so no
Sosa in 2017 lyrically had Em's card pulled lmao.

If 2pac and Big never died, and later dropped mid-bad albums, would they no longer be GOATs? Even though Em's albums fell off a cliff, he did enough and was so important for so long that his status has been cemented.
Is Wayne not a goat when he has some pretty s*** tier albums too?
I'll respectfully disagree on the Jay projects but he also has that Linkin Park mash up.
