what was the point of replying with this

Your attempt at making me look dumb is not impressive. My point is that reading isn’t necessarily ‘better’ than listening, and your rationale of calling them the same thing based on whether someone is able to read or not is strange.

look I don’t know how you gathered that from what I said but the point you’re trying to make has nothing to do with what I said
No one is trying to make you look stupid just relax bro

Who f***ing cares whether you read with your eyes or listen with your ears or read with your fingers, you’re still consuming the book

It’s all reading in different forms

Are people afraid to say listening and reading are two completely different things because they're afraid of some stigma or something? If my friend verbally tells me a story about some s*** he got up to, I would never tell someone else that I read their story. The English language has two different words that define whether you consume and interpret information through sight or hearing, and people are bending over backwards to pretend like they don't exist?

Nobody is saying listening to a book makes you lesser. Nobody cares whether you listen or read a book. Why is it so hard to say that someone listened to a book instead of reading it? Did I read My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy? Did I read the Raptors-Bucks game yesterday because I had it on in the background in a different tab?

“yes I do because for some people it’s incredibly difficult to stay focused staring at a page but it’s easier to listen”
You consider listening to be the same as reading… because it’s hard for some people to read
    Weird logic
That’s all my point was and I don’t get what part of that was so hard for you to understand or what you’re on 10 for. I agree it shouldn’t matter, so in that sense there’s no need to regard listening as reading and it’s fine that they’re different.

Feelings get hurt, people need to feel like they’re apart of the group, that’s all.

Yes. They need to feel like they’re apart of the “reader” culture that’s blown up recently. It’s literally just a different way to consume the same information, but reading is different from listening

honestly i think its as simple as it sounding weird and most people not thinking about it too deeply. if someone tells me they read a book and i later learn they actually listened to it, im not gonna take it as them lying to me or something lmao.

The literal definition of reading is comprehension of written word. It’s a comprehension of a collection of symbols. Reading, listening whatever it’s still reading you’re comprehending the material

Listen when I’m walking the dog, working out, and commuting

Read when I’m on the toilet and some nights after work instead of tv

Read & listen (at faster speed) on the weekend.

Listening is extremely helpful if you are an amateur writer working on your own stuff. It really shows you how the masters of prose control the flow of words. How large sentences It’s one of the most important lessons in how to write well.
