I feel like Emotional Intelligence is more important than IQ, I know plenty of smart people that are straight s when it comes to interacting with people.
They get taken advantaged of, and they fail on networking and connecting with people because they don't know how to communicate well. (They are often condescending, or don't understand when they're being used)
This one dude was super smart but no one liked him, why cause he was condescending, thought he always was right and bragged about his IQ all the time.
Nah. Everyone’s good at something. Just find that thing and continue getting better at that.
For the most part no because I see so many adults who legitimately don't know s*** (i.e. posting dumbass fake news/conspiracy theories on social media, barely having knowledge of current events, etc) and it re-assures me.
This, too many people reposting ''facts'' on instagram when its all bullshit, they're getting educated and woke on youtube videos like bro, where is your braijn?
It's scary tbh
I listen to Death Grips and genuinely enjoy the sonic quality of their compositions. So....... no.
Nah I know I’m not stupid because I’ve got a fairly a***ytical mind and am able to comprehend more complex and abstract concepts then your average person can, in my experience. Most people are stupid though.
I don’t even mean this in some “oh I’m superior then people” way because I’m not lol theres lots of people more intellectually smart then I am or more emotionally intelligent, but I know I’m above average for sure.
Do I feel stupid when dealing with things I’m unfamiliar with? Yeah occasionally
we're all stupid about something, intelligence isn't black and white
*what stupid people say to make themselves feel better 🤣
the obsession over IQ is so dumb. it’s nothing more than a test score. it’s like thinking your SAT score defines you as a person. intelligence is way too abstract to quantify it like that

Japanese word for intelligence is so much more robust that the western term.
I read this book on the intelligence in nature and it supposed that in the western world intelligence is more so a curated term based on Christian underpinnings which caused the term to fit a very niche meaning, that has a greater propensity to change as society evolves.
I think intelligence being linked to standardized testing scores can lead to that then being what defines an intelligent individual.
But that is a byproduct of a economy that needs people in jobs that require individuals in highly specified coursework. Which "requires" high standardized testing scores etc.
In other cultures intelligence can be as broad as " The creative capacity to know"
Also I don't really know what Im talking about.
But that's at least my perspective

this is really interesting and makes a lot of sense to me. do you remember the name of the book? i’ve thought about this a lot but i never really considered the cultural or economic motivators behind it.

He didn't talk about all of that in the book just the Japanese term / Christianity thing.
The rest is just speculation on my part.
The books is Intelligence in Nature
By Jeremy Narby
It's a really good book though. Has great perspective, and is a very easy read
EQ beats IQ

To answer OP, I often feel like it, to the point where I feel like I’m incapable of having and doing better because I feel like I’m dumb as hell. I know I’m not, and I know where my weaknesses lie, but it’s hard to shake the thinking
tbh if you're asking yourself whether you're stupid or not it's probably a good sign you're not stupid
there's stupid people who never ask themselves that
