MORE BOOKS MORE KNOWLEDGE!
I've started 2020 by reading 18 books in like 8 months and then I hit a wall and can't finish a book since September
Would you say they look at where you got your degree when hiring for internships or do you think projects are more important
Hard to say
But I know for a fact that those BIG companies probably don't give a damn
It's so annoying that they aren't even looking at you CV before you pass the first online assessment
So when you apply you have to fill out 10 pages of forms where you chose what sql you're in, what major, things like this and you do that so that the algorithm can judge if you pass the basic criteria
But when it comes to the smaller companies you can see by going on linkedin that there are companies who hire more students from my Uni and there are companies who hire none
Like... there's this one company that's always on job fairs at my uni and it has like "100 XYZ graduates work/ed here"

But if you're asking if a CS student has the same chances as someone who has no degree and learns by himself I'd say there's a difference
It's probably harder to start if you don't have a degree

I’m thinking about going to school for CS cause i don’t think anyone is going to hire a self taught programmer anymore. Feels like those days are over
That's something I'm working on myself tbh
With lack of parties now bc of Covid I realized Tinder can't be my only option and in 2021 I'd really like to be this guy that can just walk up to a girl in a social setting and have a quick chat with
I would at that to my list but it's hard to say If I accomplished this or nah
Check this book out
You might feel lame reading a self-help book, especially one about dating. But everything he says makes sense and you'll just know there's at least some truth when you read it

you have success after reading this

2 books this year for me
I'd say my area is building full-stack with .NET Core and Angular
I've started by applying to these big organizations bc It has always been a dream of mine to work at Google or whatever. It has drastically changed now bc I know I probably would feel better in a more startup-ish setting but I still think It'd be a good thing to be able to say "yeah I worked for Samsung as a software Engineer one summer"
I believe the way they do things there could teach me a lot about how the industry works
but tbh there's probably not much more to that than it looking nice at my resume and getting a good $ while still learning
If I fail at those Tier A companies I'm gonna move to more local ones
If I may give you one advice it's learn React or Vue as well for your frontend knowledge. I could argue with you about Angular, but if you like it that's fine. However React and Vue have a different (and to me) a more intuitive approach to components. React is also the biggest frontend framework right now while the use of Angular has been in decline because of their updates and changes in setup through the years.
If anything I would always advice people to learn programming in a small team. That could still be in a big company, but it's more practical to have someone around you with decent experience who has the time to guide you. You can watch, read and do tons of tutorials but there's some hands on experience you probably only get when you build applications and work within a company. As a junior or even medior it's important to understand priciples, code ethics and standards. That makes you understand and learn new language much more easily and also enables you to be valuable for a lot of companies. When you're more experienced you can focus on other disciplines and which could be interesting in larger companies. For example stakeholder management, workflows and other stuff that involves programming and the business side of a company.
you have success after reading this
Haven't been able to implement yet, we getting 6000 new cases a day so I'm not tryna be out here like that But that also depends on what your definition of "success" is. The book addresses this, success should be determined by spending time with women who make you happy. Nothing else

Fair enough, kinda hard to meet people rn. I got game but doesn’t hurt to read more so ima give this a shot
My 2020 resolutions were to quit drinking and go vegan and I actually followed through.
Been trying to figure out that difficult third album now that the hype is real.

If you got game, you may already be implementing some of what he says but now you can just consciously realize what you're doing and why women find you attractive. Doesn't hurt to read like 200 pages if a possible result is improving yourself
That's so weird that a year that was supposed to be so terrible turned out to actually be very good
And it's not just you and me
I see a lot of people saying this year was actually great
Maybe it's bc everything slowed down bc of COVID. People started to appreciate little things like just going for a walk with a friend or being able to play ball after months of being locked down
Also some people probably had mental issues they were afraid to face and the moment the lockdown begin they had to fight their demons. And those who sorted their s*** out probably went on to have some good time later that year...
2020 was actually a good start to a new decade
Yea I’ve seen a lot of people personally s*** on this year. Which is expected because of the whole lockdown and virus and politics. And when we had that lockdown I’ve never seen just so much negative vibes on my timeline and feed. Me I was okay with it I just was stacking bread and staying with family. Talking to my friends everyday on FaceTime and gaming went by smooth for me. I bought my first car. Worked out almost everyday for the first time lol and I was mentally just in a good space. If I had any resolution it would be just to continue where I’m at right now mentally and physically
100% focus in all my endeavors
Maintain health and prosperity in myself and my family
To be without fear in the face of my enemies
To be brave and upright, so that God may love me
And to buy my momma a house
Ameen
amen brother
Congratulations op. Glad to hear someone is having a better 2020. I wish you more life and happiness. Especially between you and your pops
As for me, haha idk man life’s a blur right now. I just want to work more on calling my family. There’s nothing bad between us I just wanna check up on em.
And some other stuff like getting money. Reading more etc.
Might actually try to quit nicotine. 10 year addiction but at least I dropped cigs. Going down on nic is such a b**** man. Was no problem from 50 (to 36 to 24 to 12) to 6 but 6 to 3 is torture
