I decide whether I enjoy a movie, or not. I do seek out "classics" but, my opinion isn't tainted if a project has universal claim.

There are quite a few well regarded movies that I think are mid.

A little bit, mostly I follow people's scores on sites like metacritic and I always trust friends recommendations, even tho they are not always good

Nah mostly based on friend recommendations offline and based on this forum's recommendations.
I like to go in as blind as possible (apart from superhero s***) so I don't even read reviews anymore.

The Flash was a crazy case to me. Apart from some wonky CGI, that movie is pretty good to me. Looking at the critics score and online chatter would make you think it's some Morbius level bullshit.

I generally won’t watch anything below a 7.0 on IMDB. Though, I’ll make an exception for movies that are controversial or cult classics.

  • I’ve spent most of 2024 watching “how the f*** have you never seen this?” movies which means the majority are very popular critic movies… but as a general rule, no.

    Snowboy

letterboxd is better if you need general opinions because its (mostly) normal people and not exclusively dudes who look like this

and it wouldn't be so bad but most of these dudes don't know jack about film as an art.

just find people with similar taste and share your honest thoughts on a movie, it aint hard to figure out what the good s*** is depending on what you value in a movie.

It’s all the same really people need to embrace just going on their own film journey lol

Absolutely not, if I took the word of these pretentious and in alot of cases biased critics I'd be missing out on classics like Troy

Plenty of great movies have gotten torn apart by critics to only later get the credit they deserve
