It could also just be that the person likes the shoe and the color way but couldn't beat the bots and didn't want to pay resell.
Fake flexing is corny for sure but it's damn near impossible for regular people to just buy the drops they like now.

to my knowledge, there's more people wearing reps of normal jordans than high-end balenciagas.

I used to be heavy into sneakers, I even did legit checks and stuff back on the old sole collector forums and I was pretty decent at legit checking a lot of older models.
If I can't take the shoe and look at it mad close or check the inside tag, it's virtually impossible to be 100% certain on the good fakes. The best fakes use the actual model and base stolen from the real factories and made them really well, it's gotten even better now and spotting very good reps from even a couple feet on foot is way too hard lol.
Fakes gotta be outrageously fake now to spot em on foot.

Not only that but the real shoes are so poorly made that the reps are majority of the time better
S*** is all f***ed up now

I’d never knowingly wear “fake” shoes. That’s just ingrained in me from a young age. I can’t do it. I’ll be feeling like the shoe by might fall apart at any moment.

Now T-shirts? Like tour merch? Idrc. If it’s 1:1, imma buy n Rick it like it’s the real thing.

Yeah and that to me is not bad. Something like dunks became so popular you can't get basic ass color ways. That's when I think it's not bad. If Nike could at least try to stop the bits and resellers I'd probably have a different opinion but at this point it's the only way to not pay resale.

1 thing i know is that in poorer countries it already is mainstream

  • May 8, 2021

    Yes.

Scalpers + Sneaker companies limiting things on purpose will only drive more people toward reps.

  • For certain shoes i can see it becoming mainstream. I have a friend who has a rep of a 10 year old dunk colorway, for something hard to find like that i dont see an issue with it

    Pretty much agree with this

Ill gladly wear a reprinted version of a vintage tour shirt or something

The bigger picture is.... if you’re over the age of idk.... 24... and someone cares if your s*** is real or fake or you care if someone else’s s*** is real or fake..... clown behavior.

And I’m being generous with 24.... anyone out of high school really

I mean let’s be real.... we are only wearing these shoes to impress other guys lol

We’ve gotten to the point where people brag about paying resale lol... “yeah I dropped $1,300 for these Travis Scott’s”.... like it’s an accomplishment or something lol. Yeah well I got mine for $150 and they even threw in a free pair of socks and a cool keychain lmao and they look the exact same as yours

what were your last pair of rep shoes?

Due to personal things I’ve sold off a lot of my collection.... both retail and rep....

Right now the only reps I got are a pair of Yeezy 350 Black Non-Reflectives and a pair of Nike x Sacai LD Waffle in Summit White/Grey

    But I’ve had basically everything....

    OW Presto
    OW Blazer
    OW J1
    Wotherspoon’s
    Travis J1
    Shattered Backboards

There’s a lot that I want that I just haven’t gotten around to buying. I’ll build it back up when I get personal s*** under control

I love reps. If anyone needs any help getting into reps... I’ll point you in the right direction. And I don’t mean some random IG seller. I mean the real plug straight from China lmao.

I’ll never pay resale for another sneaker ever again. f*** that garbage. And I’ve done it plenty of times, I’ve dropped $600+ on shoes a whole bunch of times.

People hear “reps” and think of $25 flea market ass shoes lmao. Reps are identical to retail now. Hell with all the horrible QC issues from Nike themselves, reps look better than retail sometimes. Nike QC is f***in garbage, glue stains everywhere and s***. Reps get through StockX, Goat all the time now. That’s also why I will never pay resale again because you flat out never know what you’re getting. There’s that new legit checking app/site, checkcheck.... dudes from the reps subreddit get their shoes passed from there ALL THE TIME.

I’ll always try to cop for retail first.... but considering how hard it is to buy even basic ass shoes nowadays, when I take an L and it’s a shoe I want, I will absolutely buy a rep for $150 instead of giving a 15 year old botter that used his mom’s credit card $600

You ain’t stealing s*** from Nike. They made their money from the shoe when it sells out. If they cared about making more money then they would make more stock, simple as that.

This applies to sneakers. Obviously when you’re comparing a rep LV bag to a real one or idk, a rep Gucci wallet to a real one or something that like.... the retail is gonna be better quality.

But sneakers and these basic streetwear brands? You’re dumb af paying resale. Rep Supreme Box Logo hoodies for $70 are nearly identical to retail. Most all supreme stuff is easily repped with very good accuracy.

Like I said, that doesn’t necessarily apply to the high end fashion houses.

But I do know some rep watches are identical too. And people pay a lot for them. Some rep watches cost $500+ cause the quality is that good.

Where do you be buying em off, PM me if you want, I'm curious to see the quality and s***

My biggest problem with reps is when people try selling them as authentic and when people tried pushing the notion that “UA” meant they were authentic but were stolen off the assembly line

I have no problem with People who admit that they’re rocking fakes/don’t flex them as authentic

But i personally will never knowingly wear fakes...I was tempted in HS to buy some rep Red October’s but I’m glad I stopped myself

For me, I wouldn’t feel comfortable flexing something that’s way out of my budget...and at the end of the day you don’t need that crazy expensive shoe...no need to buy the rep/pay resell for people to “think you’re cool” just move on..fire shoes drop every week

someone i know just bought the fragment travis 1s for $1,000 "from a plug." trying to tell me they're "UA" & straight from the factory..

i swear it's the worst when people are selling fakes and not knowing they're fake, or willing to deny it to the end. Everything just becomes a chain of scams.

the worst kind of fake buyers are the ones who say the real deal is too expensive but then go out and buy a “good quality” fake for the price of real designer clothes
these guys on the rep subreddit be spending thousands on fakes
