damn. so the main difference is quality control?

it really depends on a shoe and batch basis. I just find it hilarious that people argue about it without actually having paid attention to the replica community and how the market works. Clearly not having a clue

Okay and? I come from the same upbringing, if I can’t afford something I just get something else that I like, I get liking the design completely but if you can’t afford it just get something else and wear it instead. not having Dior 1’s isn’t the end of the world

Clothes don’t make you fresh, how you wear them does

I agree with that last part, but if I was a broke teenager who wanted some Dunks that were a crazy colorway but they ended up being thousands of dollars I'd just get reps and call it a day. It's not about impressing others it's about getting what I want for lower than half the cost.

theyre made in the same factory lmao

So if I compare my Kiko x CP company jacket to a fake one you won’t be able to tell the difference between the two?

The answer is no because there is no way they would get the garment dying and multiple darts correct with the same materials on a fake

Why do you think they can tell fakes/ unauthentic pairs from the real thing lol

    Factories don’t matter

It seems like the rep biz has reached a level where the real and fake are damn near indistinguishable. The price gap between the two isn't as big as it once was though.

Your feet gonna smell like chemicals and you gonna get made fun of then lol

Why not find a better alternative that meshes with your wardrobe better that you can afford?

We shouldn’t be entitled to obtaining everything we want

I get paid well. I don't have to worry about s*** like this. I also don't have a hate boner for reps or resellers like the rest of y'all. I just think it's fascinating how far reps have evolved over the years. I remember when jordans had the pregnant belly and bapes were peeling after the first week lol

This is actually true. Reps are no longer $60 AliExpress Jordan's, it's $250 Gucci Ace's that hold up just as well, if not the same, from regular wear.

Obviously the cheap $35 fakes still float around but there are some people out there that run some pretty serious factories for these. Even near-identical SLP leather jackets that are like $400+. The SLP Teddy has some identical reps out there, it's insane.

for me it all comes down to actually appreciating fashion. if i was some kid who didnt care about hype or whats cool or whatever and i liked how the ben n jerry dunks looked, i'd prolly buy some fake ones

im actually interested and involved in fashion tho, i couldn't justify buying some fake s*** to myself. especially not without exhausting other routes like getting a similar shoe, trying to make my own custom, just being like "fuck it, the shoe wasnt for me" etc...

crazy s*** is the rep industry kinda getting there. it's gotten big enough that people are buying legit designer s*** and sending it to these factories to have them replicated insanely accurately. down to sourcing the fabrics from the same places and everything.

ofc a rep like that would sell for damn near designer prices tho

exactly. i'm not gonna go put down some kid because he's wearing some fake chunky dunkys. tbh, you'd really have to wear some flashy s*** for it to even get my attention. and even if you did, it's not like I could even tell if they were fake or not. There's people that can tell the difference between stitching, laces, logo placements, etc. I'm not one of them

i know this ain't reps but i see a lot people rocking mids of popular colour ways of jordan 1s because resell is so high that people just pick up mids instead and though this mids becoming more accepted now

my suspicion was correct when i saw this

People have normalized reps and imitations because they are so detached to the actual craftsmanship behind the products.

When products are made in sweatshops obviously the craftsmanship is lesser, but there are still creatives making the designs.

shoes have never been about the art though
    *to the general public

the sneaker game is so f***ed rn i wouldnt be suprised

  • May 6, 2021

No, authenticity will always be coveted.

  • May 7, 2021

    i hope not.

  • May 7, 2021

I think eventually expensive sneakers will disappear.

If you think about it they've only been a thing for like 25-30 years. expensive shoes used to be nice dress shoes

imo sneakers are cool for playing sports or sometimes casually but a lot of them (especially jordans) look childish as hell

comfortable/ durable shoes are the way to go and you can find nice looking comfortable shoes a lot cheaper than all the stupid sneakers

I love reps. If anyone needs any help getting into reps... I’ll point you in the right direction. And I don’t mean some random IG seller. I mean the real plug straight from China lmao.

I’ll never pay resale for another sneaker ever again. f*** that garbage. And I’ve done it plenty of times, I’ve dropped $600+ on shoes a whole bunch of times.

People hear “reps” and think of $25 flea market ass shoes lmao. Reps are identical to retail now. Hell with all the horrible QC issues from Nike themselves, reps look better than retail sometimes. Nike QC is f***in garbage, glue stains everywhere and s***. Reps get through StockX, Goat all the time now. That’s also why I will never pay resale again because you flat out never know what you’re getting. There’s that new legit checking app/site, checkcheck.... dudes from the reps subreddit get their shoes passed from there ALL THE TIME.

I’ll always try to cop for retail first.... but considering how hard it is to buy even basic ass shoes nowadays, when I take an L and it’s a shoe I want, I will absolutely buy a rep for $150 instead of giving a 15 year old botter that used his mom’s credit card $600

You ain’t stealing s*** from Nike. They made their money from the shoe when it sells out. If they cared about making more money then they would make more stock, simple as that.

This applies to sneakers. Obviously when you’re comparing a rep LV bag to a real one or idk, a rep Gucci wallet to a real one or something that like.... the retail is gonna be better quality.

But sneakers and these basic streetwear brands? You’re dumb af paying resale. Rep Supreme Box Logo hoodies for $70 are nearly identical to retail. Most all supreme stuff is easily repped with very good accuracy.

Like I said, that doesn’t necessarily apply to the high end fashion houses.

But I do know some rep watches are identical too. And people pay a lot for them. Some rep watches cost $500+ cause the quality is that good.

    bitch mob

10 times out of 10 they're only buying the fakes because of its status and not the style. there are dozens of sneakers i like that cost too much and the thought of paying resale or buying fakes never crosses my mind.

    This

All that BS of “I buy reps cus I like them!”. And those reps are always hard to get/ expensive / hyped up shoes

All those arguments in favor of reps are bullshit

Just say you tryna stunt and look cool for recognition of others

I personally don’t wear reps because I feel weird about it, but if you do then no hate from me as long as you don’t lie about it

    That’s the point tho

All these people buying fakes and resale fakes DO LIE about it

A shady market attracts shady people

not an good argument either, buying retail priced/resold sneakers is to fulfill that same purpose anyways

it's a consumer choice to purchase a counterfeit product made of something unattainable through regular means (manual copping/registering to raffles) to then levy a personal attack on the person's character shows that you have no substantial argument

i don't blame people for buying reps, the game is f***ed

there's more bots registering in these raffles and purchasing stock than humans, camping out is dead for the foreseeable future, there is no hobbyist community for the current hype wave, only commodity

you can be mad that a person obtained a product that is resold at a horrific value for near-retail or below because "you put in the work" but ask yourself if the conditions which made people turn to buying reps should be in the sneaker game in the first place?
