Crazy how this is alwayyys a generalized and blanket topic. The degree to which artists are flawed is so varied and specific. How y'all not doing case by cases ??? I'm def not bumping R. Kelly, MJ I'm confused about, I defend Kanye (sometimes), and Prince + Bowie idk enough about. Karl Andre off a balcony though, f*** his sculptures modernism is weird.

    What confuses you about MJ

R.Kelly still the King of R&B when its all said and done.

    Real one

  • Oct 14, 2020

Can’t listen to Kanye the same anymore

His personality has always been super intertwined with his music

  • Oct 14, 2020

Case by case basis for me.

Yeah depends how many times we’re gonna have this thread

Music has to be good enough for me to separate the art from the artist.

    Otherwise what's the point.

It’s always so offputting to me how vocal people are about supporting r kelly and how he’s the king of rnb and they don’t give a f***. Listen to whatever you want but The reaction in these threads is always very sketchy

yes, up to the point that the artist's personal actions and works are too intertwined for me to enjoy it anymore.

i.e. I can't listen to Sun Kil Moon after the allegations anymore because all of his music was about being honest about his personal life and feelings.

    What he do

If my favourite artist were revealed to be a pedophile/rapist or something along those lines I could no longer support them or listen to their music, period. I genuinely just really can’t listen to someone comfortably knowing they have done such things.

It's the ones who try to claim they're "innocent"

I'm fine with you listening to their music but ignoring indisputable facts is crazy.

Now if one of my favorite artists got cancelled idk. Like i can't imagine them being cancelled for being a terrible person, but if they did, then I'd be stuck. I love their music, and I have a real emotional connection to it. And to just stop sounds so hard. Idk how terrible a person they were, once you have an emotional connection to an album or a song, it's very hard if not impossible to put it away.
