i actually had American exchange student in my class and sometimes i would talk to him about us pol, he was fairly conservative so we disagreed quite a lot on political issues but he had decent personality i guess

People think getting along with someone they disagree with makes them smart and emotionally collected, but it's far from the truth. It's actually juvenile to not stand for something. To allow those who believe things you wholeheartedly are against to be cool with you is a sign of your own weak virtues.
