Reddit is full of bots now and has too many people for it to feel like a community unless you're in some super niche sub. And even then there are no avatars so you never really recognize anybody. So maybe.
I never had or needed any of the 4 apps cause I'm a ktt lifer
Reddit has avatars but they're scaled weird so you rarely recognize someone
The only subs that feel like a community to me are the ones based around those retro video game consoles, even niche pokemon subs are not community driven. I haven't looked at hiphopheads daily discussions since I got banned but that was basically the only actual community I'm aware of existing on reddit the past 5 years because there was like 10 regulars making 80% the posts there each day
The site is so obviously full of bots it's baffling at this point people don't realize it. And I can't comment, just look at comments and accounts
@op I can actually see forums sort of coming back these next few years. People are getting tired of modern social media and reddit-likes. I've heard 4chan has surged recently in users for some reason so that's a start
It would take a decent forum though and competition with discord would be tough. Idk how to use discord well but I've been wanting to get more into it
Reddit pisses me off because I think I mentioned it before. Yea niche subs are great but like I’m in a car sub for example and someone post pictures of their car. I click their profile hoping to see more pictures of it. It usually ends up being extremely weird s*** in nsfw and fetish subs.
no because people just dont want to read nowadays
I don't think discords have replaced forums because they lack an important aspect of forums: guessing you're posting in perpetuity, that someone in ten years could probably end up on your post and reading it.
Discord doesn't have that display to the outside world. It also operates on a too-fast cycle - people in the same server as you would probably never see your message if they're not on within the same timeframe
Traditional social media fits this criteria more - in people's minds, they are one algorithmic decision from achieving online immortality

yeah could never get with discord since each server is just a collection of chatrooms hidden behind a wall
The fact that we're still on this site posting is pretty crazy tbh.
It’s because we still care ❤️
Haven't forums already been replaced with discord servers?
Nah.. we still got our little corner to hang around on when we ain't got nothing better to do it.

I remember wanting more help on what was wrong under the stickshift on my car and that dude had "Fisting Tips" under his recents lirl.
I got FB for people to contact me via messenger.
IG for some cool pictures.
KTT2 to conversate with individuals who know s*** from apple butter with current affairs and pop culture. I've discovered so much cool art from this site and it's predecessor.

Happens way more often than not
I hope so. Ive always been fond of the blend of s***posting and posts with actual effort within forums. And users actually feel like individuals with recognisable names + avvies
Unfortunately you have to have a perfect storm of an admin whos willing to host, moderators to keep everyone in check, and enough users to frequently post
reddit is such an anti forum that its no surprise the vast majority of its userbase now is complete psychopaths and all the normal people have moved on to more tight knit platforms as parts of specific friend groups. the falloff of r/hiphopheads is monumental
Blogs? Maybe
Forums? Probably not since the normal person these days is too dumb for something like this and I'm not being rude right now
...i think tumblr is coming back and more important i think having little followers is coming back, the death of cloud or someting like that

I feel crazy browsing reddit because it has the best content but no one there actually wants to discuss it
Like it'd be a good article and 50% of the comments will be about why they don't want to read it for some petty reason ("closed the tab when i got the video autoplay"), 25% will be some lame jokes about the title and the rest will be people posting their preconceived opinion without actually reading it

Never forget kanyetothe.com was sold to these guys
Yes as a matter of fact this is the perfect time for KTT/Lowkey to capitalize on this and evolve into an app that does not incentivize monetization/bots or popularity contests but I have no idea who even runs this site anymore ngl

I’ve learned a lot of mentally ill people are on Reddit , it’s a cesspool
