Next thread: did your parents affect your development

Took me a while to get over low self esteem through therapy. Then I think I hit on a friends friend and that was the first time.

My dad was a serial cheater. My parents became estranged as soon as he was caught in a threesome in their bedroom one night when I was only 3 years old. And my mom kicked him out and he wounded up living with one of his girlfriends before buying his own place.

Growing up, I spent time with both of my parents in different homes and my dad would have a different woman at his place every other week.

To this day, my dad has a "sidepiece" he's known for a long time who goes on dates with him constantly while he's still on dating apps looking for a long term girlfriend. He used to live with her and she used to tell me that she was my "2nd mom" because of how much time she spent with my dad.

Personally, I was never a f***boy like my pops but I did get around quite a bit back in college. But I never cheated on the non-casual gfs that I did have(not to my knowledge at least).

If I do get into another long term relationship, I will strive to be faithful and committed.

I should clarify too that I'm very cool with my dad and he himself would agree with my assessment. He's self aware.

My parent’s relationship was so f***ed up that I absorbed very little information about relationships from it. I just realized early on that my parents were aliens, and whatever was happening at home was something that my peers could absolutely not relate to. So, no, I never took it serious.

yea i 100% felt like love was supposed to be verbally abusive and strictly pragmatic and that women should put up with a lot of bullshit out of love

Also never saw my parents go on dates or anything like that, they very much lived their own lives and did their own thing outside of the house. Just like you OP I didn't start dating till much later

As a result i want tonnes of alone time which is really hard and i have bouts of being super cold/distant for no reason
