I'm just curious tbh. Do you think it's a document that needs to be kept in mind when advocating for change (so for example, if you advocate for change in education, do you do so with respect to the fact that education has never been a federal question really) or do you view it as outdated and in need of changing

the guys who signed it couldn’t even make an account on this website if they tried, so yeah it’s outdated

The Constitution was never meant to be treated as flawless and immutable. It's f***ed that one of our two major parties sells itself on making a living document static. No wonder we drag behind other western nations in so many respects.

  • A little bit of both

constitution was suppose to be updated to the times with amendments. Which is why "constitutionist" lawyers and politicians are BS

    No

  • Dec 16, 2020

    It’s meant to change

    That’s what amendments are

  • it shouldnt be one, but if by legitimate you mean real or authoritative then yes it is- unfortunately

Do I think a constitution that was written and signed by racist slave holders and regarded black people as non citizens deserves to be changed?

I think it’s valid in a general sense but it’s so outdated and things are so nuanced now, I don’t think it should be used as an end all, be all.

We should get a new constitution every 50 years or something.

i love the constitution, im a constitutionalist

    new constitution just dropped 😂

It’s important but it was created f***in centuries ago

People’s morals and ways of living are way different then they were 300 years ago

They need to be amended or changed with the times

We can’t and SHOULDN'T be following it word for word. We aren’t the same society from 300 years ago.

And these f***in weirdo government people that want to follow it exactly as written are archaic and frankly idiots

  • Dec 16, 2020

Nah never understood why people treat it as some perfect document that if we just governed by it it would be perfect

Like many say itt slavery was a thing when it was put into place and arguably followed the closest

  • Dec 16, 2020

Nah, even if it was our rights our being f***ed over so it wouldn't mean s*** anyway

It's almost religious in a sense, at this point to be giving so much power to a document but not interpret it usefully into modern times

Some of the aspects are outdated (2nd Amendment, 3rd amendment) but the majority of it holds up
