Do I think a constitution that was written and signed by racist slave holders and regarded black people as non citizens deserves to be changed?

Look up the Reconstruction amendments lmao

All the racist terminology in the constitution got changed 100s of years ago

Written without the consent of the ppl by the ruling elite to protect class interests. Outdated, no good document

bleh. amendments help keep it up to date but I don’t believe in using the Constitution as a shield of sorts. there are very few things i think it touches on that haven’t changed much therefore they’re still solid guidelines, but as like one big whole things it’s whatever. there is some sense to keeping a predetermined and established set of rules but in so many cases those rules are outdated so.

also you guys speak of the constitution as if the document itself is what gives us these rights its more informing that you cant infringe on anyones god given rights. this is why calling it "outdated" is dumb you can amend correct???

If you live in the US and say no all you’re doing is cringeposting

The essential point of the constitution is to limit the government's power

I don't understand your example for education, care to elaborate? People usually treat it as a state issue but there are example of the fed government making policy. Most notably:
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_Amendments_of_1972

  • Written constitutions work for many countries, just the us one is somewhat out of date

constitution was suppose to be updated to the times with amendments. Which is why "constitutionist" lawyers and politicians are BS

  • Dec 19, 2020

at it's core it's one of the things we got right imo

seeing the current situation(s) in other places regarding easily modified constitutions, namely turkey and brazil; i don't envy them.

Exactly, I think one of the founding fathers(can’t remember but he was a future pres) said how it needed to be updated every 19 years

Yea exactly, it is supposed to be updated with amendments, and it has, since amendments require relative consensus. It is not supposed to be updated by reinterpretation, which is undemocratic.

it was not written with the will of the majority in mind, it was written by a small number of men protecting their interests. men who undoubtedly participated in slavery at that.

Yea that’s true I guess. You could argue certain amendments were written with the majority in mind. I was thinking more along the lines of whether it established a democratic system.
