I thought that from the trailer, shang looked considerably better than s*** like avengers 1 and ant man

looks even worse. Like a Lego version of a Zhang Yimou movie man lmao.

That Skyfall homage fight scene looks so smoothed out and bland in comparison.

Feige aims to make MCU movies look as lifeless as humanly possible.

on the topic of the sky fall homage scene not looking as good

Could it be a case of the director (who’s relatively new) not being skilled enough to fully utilise the DP he has as well as Mendes used Deakins?

Mendes had jarhead and perdition under his belt which were big productions compared to what the Shang chi director has done up till now.

i dont rly think thats what this is. We have seen inexperienced directors craft incredibly made films many times now. Denis utilized Deakins to perfection with Prisoners and he only had one major film under his belt at the time. Same with Deakins handling Jesse James from Dominik, who only had Chopper prior. I don't really hold Cretton to high regard by any means (Just Mercy and Short Term 12 were both mediocre), but hes got enough experience by now to know better.

Even Krasinski who never directed a movie in his life had amazing cinematography for A Quiet Place. At the least, looks way better than anything in the MCU.

Its a lot more likely that Feige is a hack who believes in lifeless ass visuals across the MCU than anything else. Because its well known at this point most these movies look stale as s***. Dr. Strange looked just as lifeless as all of them as well.

He directed "The Hollars" (2016) before "A Quiet Place"

fair enough, yeah he had 2 pretty small films before AQP, but I'd say his resume is definitely a lot more hollow than Crettons before he did a bigger project.

In the comics she's able to create portals between universes so definitely

She's also got hyper awareness all across the multiverse so I got the feeling she's gonna realize something is wrong and come to Strange and then they'll team up or something like that

    From an interview with Lizzie:

I think it's scarier than Indiana Jones. I think it definitely feels more 'Sam Raimi' than that. So, maybe that was the goal, but it definitely became something darker, I think.

And by Sam Raimi, do you mean, like 'Evil Dead-Sam Raimi' or what do you—what do you mean by that?

I think, yeah, not like his western stuff. The horror genre feeling of constant, like, fear and thrill, and misleads, and playing with camera, playing with how the perceptive of like, the depth of field in order to make the audience feel more anxious and a lot of things like that. I think it's more than a 'glossy' Indiana Jones movie—which I love Indiana Jones movies—but I feel like it has a darker thing going on.

It's like the scariest parts of 'Temple of Doom.'

Yes. It's like the scariest parts of 'Temple of Doom.' Yeah, like the fire and the cage.
