This was the first good posthumous album in more than 10 years that I’ve heard. Including ph albums from good artists. He definitely deserves credit.
That’s probably because the album was mostly finished before he died I think
you guys are getting so worked up on comparison but don’t realize at any function with niggas, faneto, hot nigga & welcome to the party are the three automatic cheat codes, most niggas are dancing like pop & unlike those two other artist he actually had crazy crossover appeal with the ladies
his s*** still banging this summer and it ain’t cause he dead, the music and the movement were that powerful. pac obviously did a lot outside of music but no doubt pop was gonna be successful in many lanes and a voice in this game for a while
Pop’s posthumous run has been legendary, and tbh I like his posthumous album more than any Pac album as a whole but no one has been Pac level since he passed

Cacs be like 😂
100%
he did really well with it. And promoted the hell out of it too
sadly it looks like hes not involved in the next one and i wouldnt expect it to do anywhere near the kind of numbers (or even be as good) as the last one
Yeah 50 didnt f*** with pops / pushas manager and said im not doing the second one. Has way less hype too
Jess Jackson deserves more credit for how the album was put together, from wikipedia:
“Jess Jackson, the album's mastering engineer, described his job as "wizardry", largely because he was constrained by the sometimes poorly recorded material and unfinished double vocals. According to Jackson in Complex, "if Pop Smoke was around to this day, I would ask him to get back in the studio and just lay in an additional double or something". Jackson refined the tracks to get the professional sound of a big recording studio; he wanted to honor Pop Smoke's memory by not "changing it to a large extent". While sequencing the album, Republic Records wanted the track-listing to be a certain way but Jackson realized some tracks did not work together. Jackson and the record company cooperated to sequence the album so each song is in time with the next track. Jackson submitted the final version of the album's masters at 06:00 on June 30, 2020; he said it had been a difficult process and that he had been working on the album for over six months, often working on it for 10 to 12 hours a day.”
Pop already had the songs and album made. Most 50 did was probably get some more features. like the babys and roddy rich. Pop put together a real dope body of work sucks he died before bringing it to life
idk abt that
Shoot for the Stars pushed like 300k FW
no way he was doing that off just Meet the Woo 2 and two small hits
facts but if wasn't off 50's hype. if anything it's because he died.
It's wild just a couple days before he died niggas were clowning him and saying he ugly and sensitive. crazy world we live in

Nah the Travis Co-sign helped a lot, like it had niggas in my city bumping his music when he only had 1 mixtape and a couple hits at that time.

That dude deserves more credit and recognition for his work on this album.
No
Pop smoke already had a following with welcome to the party and his feature on the jackboys EP. He died as he was ascending he would’ve been just as successful if he were still alive
no it wouldn't have.

Yup I remember everyone making fun of him saying he has no chin.. few days later he died while still getting clowned on the internet

Hate it or love it, The Game had a point when he made a similar comment after DMX's death which ticked many people off.
I'd have to know exactly what 50 did in the album making process to determine that right?

Gotta be honest I ain't ever heard of any that. But I'm just gonna assume that's because I live in an area that loved Pop because he was a young local artist putting New York's rap scene on his back.

Game got clowned because he was the last person to be talking about that kinda stuff, and because it made no sense because DMX was always getting love while he was alive.

he gets a lot of credit but ultimately it seems all he did was compel Steven Victor to release the music and do a promo run for it

There was a KTT thread people were posting in about it minutes if not hours before the news about him passing was made public
