The whole experience in 5 was awesome to me

Loved Venom, Quiet, Ocelot, Koz, all those dudes were awesome. Played every mission, listened to every tape, etc. I loved that game. Just wish it wasn't left unfinished.

Venom Snake > Big Boss idgaf

I have yet to play it. 5 and Peace Walker are the only ones I haven’t touched

No, its very inconsistent. It has one of the best final bosses in the series though.

    Explain more throughly

The game goes from bad/annoying to good multiple times. It peaks at beginning with Snake and then again with the finale, but it can get very dull in the middle. For example I think the aimless platforming after the first Solidus bossfight is horrendous, and the difficulty of some of the early rooms is not scaled to the player's state at that point which can make it a tedious experience. And yeah this a Kojima game and all, but the sheer amount of plot twist makes the story hard to follow and makes Solidus feel less intimidating than he should be by the end because you've been worrying about all these other more emphasized villains during the rest of the game. The character writing is also all over he place. Characters like Fatman and Solidus are either very well written or memorable, while some characters like Raiden and Hal's Sister are either extremely bland or downright boring.

Arguable but Big Boss/Zero was technically the mastermind of all this, Venom Snake is just a chess piece imo

well since someone bumped this thread im about to crash out rq

i finally completed mgs 1 (on switch) last month after like a year of sitting on mantis not bothering to really get into it. after i beat him and played through the game its been nothing but frustration in terms of controls and backtracking. i said it in the mgs thread but finding the sniper rifle segment was absolutely unbearable but okay i made it thru. all in all the engine makes sense and you get a feel for it after a while so i ended up liking the gameplay and mostly forgot about the game's shortcomings by the time i finished it

so i started up mgs 2 and dear god this s*** made me wanna boom meself trying to play it with a controller. theres A Lot more first person segments in this and its completely impossible to make it with a controller. but the worst part of it is the somersault s*** that raiden does because it NEVER, never EVER works or goes where you want it. crawling and crouching im not even gonna comment on. i f***ing hate playing this game straight up. im at the point where you need to grab a guy to use his eye scan and i just cannot f***ing do it. i put the game down for now but wow the physics and the engine and the fact that im playing on a controller are killing me. funny enough my boys were like yeah the bomb diffuse is the worst part but itll get better well it aint got better so far lol. and some speedrunners were talking about we're only playing this on pc because f*** playing it on a controller. so i might give up and buy the steam version in the end. but im still getting thru this b**** with a controller, otherwise f*** i bought switch for

I don't remember MGS2 being that hard to play with a controller. To be fair its been probably like 15 years (damn) the last time I played it but its a game made for consoles so I'd imagine it would work.
