1:25 in this video is the exact energy Kendrick gives off when he says “i am not your savior”
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QS9hwcqcX-QBut how does he tangibly market himself as that even if you dont believe that line
But how does he tangibly market himself as that even if you dont believe that line
you think people just started looking at him like that for no reason?
his entire brand exists because his marketing team worked their asses off to make people view him a certain way, no matter if he says “i am not your savior”

But what did they actually do? lol
Kendrick did feel like he should be a community leader though, as seen on Mortal Man. Nothing wrong with that, as he is one. But I think he previously put an unrealistic pressure on himself as well as having the weight of some people's unrealistic hopes.
The ironic thing is that by him saying no I can't be this saviour he was making great thoughtful and meaningful songs for people like Mother I Sober (which unfortunately made some people still see him as a saviour).
However really this has no impact on his legacy as an all time great artist and most people do not care, this is just meta commentary about his social impact.
Also this is a troll thread tbh.
I def think that pressure comes with survivor’s guilt. He’s touched on it In the past throughout his catalogue
Rappers only talking about killing niggas, f***ing hoes and doing d**** but this s*** here is just unacceptable 😭
Ironically the same niggas mad at Kendrick look the other way when the rappers that aren’t really kiving those type of raps get exposed.. “it’s jus music”. Niggas corny.

TPAB is all about survivor's guilt too. Matter fact, learning that he was mad depressed from going back home to bury his homies after gkmc gave context to a lot that's on the album.
But what did they actually do? lol
Hes made a lot of songs like the heart p5 and if you cant see how that might him leaning into that image, there’s no point arguing
The last 12 months have proved that Kendrick is entirely insulted from any sort of criticism. If it comes out that he killed someone, "the culture" would make excuses for him. If it comes out that he did something even worse than that, they'd still find a way to excuse it. It is what it is.
they will never allow him to fail in any fashion lol y’all ain’t learn this yet
why they delete my drake mcdonald's thread but this is allowed to stay up something fishy going on
Hes made a lot of songs like the heart p5 and if you cant see how that might him leaning into that image, there’s no point arguing
you have it completely opposite
The lyric is there because you assume that from hp5 or other songs like that

they’re all about survivors guilt aside from UU
GKMC: childhood homies
TPAB: present day homies
DAMN: his community and society
Morale: family
How many times does he have to tell people he’s not a savior and isn’t trying to be
until he stop recording music
people are slow
Hes made a lot of songs like the heart p5 and if you cant see how that might him leaning into that image, there’s no point arguing
And what are songs like heart p5 in relation to this convo? He’s proclaiming himself the savior by saying the word “culture” and rapping well/breaking down Black America?
Lmaoo are yall lightweight punishing him for … rapping about something?

Eventually it will
There’s a reason why a lot of rappers move away from conscious topics in their music because of the responsibility and expectations it brings
Kendrick managed to keep the conscious/savior image by barely being in the public eye
Now that he’s positioned himself to be seen more often, his actions are going to be criticized more often (probably more than Drake)
And yeah Stans will say he denied the Savior title on Mr Morale but then he positioned himself as the “Savior” to beat the “Colonizer” Drake and remove him from the culture with this rap beef.
I don’t hate Kendrick but the way he’s being treated as this flawless great rapper not only by users in this thread and online in general is proving OP’s point.
As a Kendrick glazer
All that I’m not your saviour talk is a good cop out, intended or not. And ironically, that stuff just makes his legend/myth grow even bigger in the eyes of his fans. On some "Those who deny being heroes are often the most heroic" type s***
That s*** was a perfect play for Kendrick to avoid any responsibility in the future
It’s crazy they will use that line now everytime someone questions his character.
