He ll inevitably eventually become viewed as too commercial to f*** with by the fans that thought thry were being different/hipsters bumping him instead of the latest pop rap tracks that hit the radio

True but i get what OP is saying. Its more just word of mouth and the fact that jes been catching nothing but Ws. It cant last forever

Y’all severely underestimate how many Ws Kendrick has taken for the last 13 years lmfao

I feel that pushing him as the "Hip-Hop Messiah" will ultimately be his downfall. There is no doubt he is skilled and talented, however pushing him as the GOAT will ultimately lead to the general consensus regarding it as being a forced issue.

Secondly I feel that his hardcore base is as toxic as the Swifties, Barbs, and the Trumpers. His fans are very volatile when he is faced with criticism which isn't a good look.

Thirdly I feel alot of his material borders and relies on pseudo-intellectualism. Jam packing ten metaphors and forced quadruple entendres into his body of work just for the purpose of being seen as "deep" isn't as deep as his fans think it is. If it requires an external source to understand what he's saying then the message doesn't hit the same. Kendrick succeeds in sending a profound message with less complexity.

I really miss the era of OD/S80/GKMC Kenny when people didn't paint him to be this philosophical wordsmith. The Hip-Hop community appreciated him for being who he is rather than who they think he is, or who they think he should be.

I will get a ton of backlash from this, but idgaf. Mr Morale and GNX were very disappointing as a long-term fan.

Give me 1 example of him doing this

Kendrick has to be embarrassed of his fans. Again though like he's got lines of GNX where he says "white comedians can't make jokes about black women" like really!?

We're at the stage where he could literally fart into a microphone and stans will find 64 meanings from the feedback

    You a Andrew Schulz fan?

You a dumbass that doesn’t even understand what he’s saying

thinly veiled as "you're too dumb too understand him because he's so deep that he knows everything about the universe and he's jesus christ incarnated"

  • Drogon

Do you think Kendrick is personally pushing that narrative, or is it his marketing that his team is responsible for?

His detractors are pushing it more than him. Social commentary doesn’t always equal “I’m your savor”

  • onyx

he already did y'all just slow to see it

he's no longer the dude who made gkmc and tpab he's the dude who made nlu

because he wanted to take another commercial leap, even though his talent is not in making commercial music

it's already starting but sooner or later he'll run out of mainstream good will and the majority of the attention towards him will be negative, he did it to himself

Kendrick has been commercial since GKMC that album is still selling lol

Anyone that actually listens to Kendrick can tell you’re just trying to cook up a reason to hate

None of your takes really make any sense and you’re missing the entire point of bars and songs

You don’t come off as a Kendrick fan who has valid criticism, You seem like someone who read through some Drake stan pages for 20 minutes then made a Kendrick hate thread based on what they said

Why is it when someone critiques any areas of Kenny's artistry that the immediate clapback is an automatic jump to the conclusion that the person must be a Drake fan?

C'mon dude it's really absurd. It isn't that deep much like Kendrick's music.

TPAB outro where he is glazing the ghost of Pac because he went through some pokemon inspired evolution.

"when the s*** hits the fan is it still a fan" nah it's an anorexic crocodile with multiple NDAs to it's name going through a mid-life crisis. Of course it's still a fan

It's like that meme about the godfather movies. It insists upon itself.
