I feel like there’s this romanticized idea you’ll see on here and elsewhere of pulling out your old consoles and “reliving the glory days” by playing games you have nostalgia for, and how much better they are than modern games.
Does anyone else not actually enjoy this though? Most times to me it’s not very fun and just highlights how dated the game is and how much we’ve progressed. There are exceptions like old Cod zombies modes but they are few and far between for me.
Remasters/etc. are the same way. They just don’t really hold up
Depends on the game. Action or shooter games? Not really. RPG? Hell yeah.
I will replay KOTOR any day.
Some GBA games too, Pokémon emerald, Metroid fusion, Zelda.
I mostly relate but there’s a few games here and there that I enjoy off pure nostalgia and because there’s no modern equivalent to it
seems like you’re judging games only by their graphics
well mf if one of your excuse is 'the game is outdated'' then I might believe your problem is with graphics, you're putting cod zombies in the bag of 'old games'

I dont give a f*** about the graphics lol why would i expect great graphics from an older game im obviously talking about the gameplay
I think 2d games lend itself better to revisiting for sure. the PS2 Gen forward i find it hard to revisit due to clunky UI, loading screens and interactions. Earlier games were a bit more bare bones and hence smoother experiences if that makes any sense
Most old games yeah
LIke pre PS2 era just because a lot of them aged horribly. There's PS3/PS2 era games that didn't age well either.
But if it's a game I liked or want to play then I don't have any problems with it.
Really just dependent on if a game aged awfully or not for me
It can be nice but the appeal of it can wear off pretty fast especially if it’s a game you already grew up with. Especially if your favourite part is way later in the game and now you gotta play through the whole thing
Yeah games on like ps1/2 don't age well usually when it comes to controls which is why I never cared for backwards compatibility. However the older 2d games like those on sega etc i still revisit now since they are perfectly fine and are just as fun as I remember them
i'm on this wave rn cuz the new games i wanna play I wanna wait till I get my ps5
I played GTA3, VC and SA recently and they were amazing
gonna do rdr1 soon (waiting to see if remaster will happen)

The games didn’t age well, but IMO theres some charm and finesse in navigating the jank. I’d say Gamecube games by and large aged very well tho. I wouldn’t play a console FPS from that era however. Except Metroid Prime, but on the Wii.
That's like all I play these days unless rom hacks don't count
Much more fun for me right now than baulders gate or anything on my PS4

Castlevanias on PS1 are gas still dude
And final fantasy tactics
I play games from PS2 era and before more often than newer games tbh.
